I'm going to have my K700i firmware updated but the local SE center here tells me to backup the contents of my phone because it may get erased in the process.

SO far I've managed to backup my contacts, photos, themes, sounds using BT and FMA.

My problem is how to backup the Games (in Java) and Applcations.

Isn't there free software that will allow me to BU all the contents in my phone easily? I am backing up using BT.

I need to do this soon!

No you can't. The games are supposed to be tied to the phone. If you could get them off the phone you could put them on another one. And another one ...

Usually everything is still there after upgrading the software. Most service centers ask you to backup all of it as a precaution - you never know.

@manilabynight

I did exactly the same thing on Friday 1/7. My BT dongle software only allows me to transfer 1 file at at time. I had 50 pics, 15 ringtones and half a dozen themes to transfer... it took me hours.

oh,
you could have just used something like dateimanager or myphoneexplorer over a BT seriel emulation to transfer every file in a folder at one time.
or you could have marked all files in a folder on the K700 and sent them to the pc over BT.
ps: there should be no problem sending multiple files over BT regardless of what BT software you use, propably just a configuration question

To be more specific, naturally you cant actually send more than one file at a time, what I mean is you dont have to manually select each file every time, you can select all files in a folder and send them with one command, then it shouldent take hours.

... clarification: you can select all files on the cellphone IF YOU'RE BROWSING IT FROM THE PC. you can't makr all files then send it IF YOU'RE BROWSING IT FROM THE CELL...

correct, I remembered wrong, you can select all files in a folder on the phone, but then you only get the choise of deleting, or moving it to another folder. Not sending it via BT.

The dongle software clashed with XP despite my disabling the firewall.
I'm currently looking for freeware to replace it.
Checking out FMA, widcomm, at present.

hey numb that's good shit, thanks!

Unlike FMA, every single feature works with K700i.

Brilliant. In one fell swoop I can get rid of mobile phone monitor/"My Phones" AND fma!

youre welcome

I really like myphoneexplorer much better than fma for my K700, unfortunately it doesnt work equally well with my K750 yet (but still better than fma), a few small bugs, but I hope they will get sorted

@numb:

is the webpage referred by the hyperlink translateable to english? i can't understand some of the text, although i've been able to download and install MyPhoneExplorer... i want to read the other software's description, and if necessary, download them... oh, and by the way, is MyPhoneExplorer useable if you only have an InfraRed port?

Downloaded and installed MyPhoneExplorer. Very cool.
However it can't identify my phone (K700i R2AE033)

I can't get my computer to connect to B/T PAN all the time.
I can tell the computer to recieve a file, send from the K7, then start all over again for the next file.
I have enabled and reserved all com ports, I have uninstalled previous drivers and are currently using Microsoft default drivers.
I have noticed that on the control panel, the phone monitor icon is greyed out... BT PAN in Disconnected, Firewalled and I can't find a way to select 'Connected'.
Any ideas?

BTW, I'm using a 4 month old Compaq V2020AP notebook with XP,
connected to broadband via WLAN. Battery fully charged.

the k700i doesn't have a pan profile. Use obex file transfer for copying. but it sounds like the phone isn't connecting properly...
