Alright, so I go into Curry's to go buy an LCD tv for the new home.
I spot a Toshiba 30 inch and it has a sticker which says HDTV ready.
Great. How much? 1200 pounds. Ok I'll take it.
So I get home, I call the first day to ask for the delivery date.
" we'll call you back"
nothing.
Next day, the same happens.
Nothing.
Now it's a Sunday.
I know they've got my money but what the hell!
So i decide to go online to check the tv
it's 30wl46p for those interested.
and i dont see that its HDTV ready ANYWHERE! in fact, the 32 inch says it's hdtv ready not the 30 inch.... well this sucks.
What makes matters worse, is that Curry's sells it online for 900 pounds!
Guess what i'm doing tomorrow. getting paid the difference or all hell is breaking lose and I'm cancelling the order and reordering it.
That's IF of course it's HDTV ready.

i know but i just wanted a good lcd tv.
Anyone know where to buy one?
I'm in Colchester.
oh to add to my rant. I decided to take the insurance. He explained it to me as 4 pounds a month or something.
When I look at the reciept halfway from getting home, he's charged me 200 pounds! thats 3 years! I call them to ask for a refund, because he explained I'd pay monthly. what did they say? We're closing now, please come in and sign a document for a refund.
The shop is far from my home *sighs*

i know but it's also unreliable when it comes to faults.
E.g. dead pixels, scratches, or simple repair.

hmm that is a good point
it is up to you but like you said it is cheaper online from the same company
so surely if you order online from currys if it ever develops a fault you could take it back to your local store
couldnt you
and you would save £300 in the process

hey all,
yep, well guess what?
i cancelled the order. they were practicaly begging t switch my sale for another. so i said fine.
so instead of the 30 inch toshiba (sony has nice design but bad quality. just get rid of the fanboyism and you'll see) i got a Samsung.
Now here is the funny thing.
I went into curry's (who cleverly set up all the LCD's to have a noisy picture to hide the quality difference) and said right! set them all up on the floor, and hook up a dvd player so I can see the difference (just the30 and 32 inch of course)
well they did it, and guess what came on top? The Samsung! It's a gen 6 so they've had some serious time to do good.
It supports HDTV out the box (caution, HD Ready means you have to buy an add-on) has LOADS of ports, light sensor, and a lovely slot for inserting pics or a PC card.
they threw in a glass table AND Samsung's latest DVD recorder (supports RAM RW AND -R) AND I got 50 pounds back.
Is that a deal or what?!
oh here it is btw.

Sounding a bit thick here, but can you tell me what HDTV is, and what magor benefit it has.
All the same it sound like you got a cracking deal. I am looking to get a TV for the living room, and have spotted this TV in comet, and like it because it is ultra thin design.

You know it's really funny, I recently bought the exact same TV online (the Samsung one that is!) and it's going to arrive in the next couple of days, if you want a good, but long forum to read about the ins and outs of the TV it's here: Samsung LE32R41B
The model that is being discussed here is exactly the same as yours, with a tiny bit of aesthetic difference and without the freeview tuner. Luckily EmpireDirect messed up their description, so now I get the freeview model for £796 incl. delivery!
