K750i with HCB-300 problem |

Is anyone aware of difficulties with the car kit and K750i? Both my wife and I had Nokia phones, and had Nokia bluetooth car kits. I replaced my phone with a K750i and it would not work at all with the Nokia car kits, so I have just had both professionally replaced with HCB-300s. The pro's advice was Nokia-Nokia works fine, but for any other combination always get SE car kits, specifically HCB-300, as they are the best.
My wife's Nokia phone works perfectly in both cars. My K750i seems to be ok, but the person at the other end cannot hear anything. It is almost as if the microphone is not working, but I know it is because the Nokia phone is ok. Are there any known issues? I am surprised a new Sonyericsson phone does not work with an existing, fairly new Sonyericsson car kit. Am I overlooking something? I have upgraded the firmware on my unbranded K750i with no problems at all. Thanks for any suggestions. |

Hi,
I've got both working fine, phone firmware is R1J002 (branded O2).

Well it's cooked for 4 days and now all is well. Can't explain it, but at least it's working. Perhaps the day it was fitted was just a bad day. |

@Dave C
Welcome to Esato!
The " pro's " advice you got was spot on.

I have also a problem with HCB-300. Sometimes it wont connect to the phone (restart hcb-300 and all works great). Sometimes when I call, I can talk to the person about 5 secs and then both the microphone and the speaker is falling out.. this happen quite often to me, too often!
I'm going to call SE and ask if this is a known problem.. P.S: I have the latest firmware, I think the problem is the HCB-300. Can it be upgraded too??
My nokia phone (6630) works perfectly with hcb-300. |

I would agree.
If a customer presented me with this situation, I would remove the Electronic Control Box and send it to an Authorised Sevice Centre for inspection.
It appears that the K750i can operate sucessfully with the HCB-300 but it it interesting that the HCB-700 was announced at the same time as the K750i...

An update: It doesn't work satisfactorily.
Sometimes it is ok, other times it drops out after just a few seconds. You can be having a conversation
and it just goes. The Nokia has been steady as a rock.
& btw, this was Sony Ericsson's response:
> With regards to your enquiry, to pair the HCB-300 with
> a mobile phone you have to set the HCB-300 into pairing
> mode. For that please do the following: (etc. etc.)
Why they should think it is not paired I don't know. |

Sorry, I wasn't clear in what I meant.
I meant that it appears that the K750i can be successfully paired to the HCB-300 and a Handsfree conversation can be held. In other words - it is possible in some circumstances, if not all.
I once tried to pair a Motorola V525 to a S/E HCB-30 BT Carkit but it was not possible.
There may be a software compatibility problem in some circumstances between the K750i and the HCB-300, I don't know, the K750i is barely available here. I'll ask around.
Edit: I've been thinking...
When you suddenly loose the bluetooth connection, what is displayed on the phone screen? Is the carkit transferring the sound to the phone? Are you aware of the POWERSAVE function in the K750i BT menu? Does switching Powersave off make a difference? If you press the ANSWER button on the HCB-300 remote, does the sound transfer back to the carkit?
Let me know if any of these help or not.

For the benefit of those searching these pages with similar experiences I have had a more sensible answer from Sony Ericsson today (5 Jul):
> Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

> have had this problem. Sony Ericsson will be releasing
> a software update which will improve the

> is ready to be downloaded.
Edit: @carkitter:
Thanks for the suggestions. I can't remember what's displayed on the phone, but I don't think it is being transferred back to the phone because the person at the other end should then hear a bit of background noise (or me shouting "hello, HELLO, are you still there?"). Powersave function is off, and always has been. I'll do some experimenting and get back.

I am also having problems with this combo, could anyone tell me if the voice dial function works with the k750i as a am finding the tone you speak after is so quite i can only hear it if the car is staionary, but the tone to tell me there are not matching tags is fine. Also when i use the carkit with my nokia 6230 the ringtone and keytones are transfered to the carkit speaker but with the K750i they are not, is this normal?? please help!!!!! |

I'm guessing here as I don't own a K750i, do the ringtones and keytones need to be enabled in the CAR or HANDSFREE profiles?
You may have problems with voicedial due to the K750i and other recent SE 262k/65k screen phones not having a constant BT connection but an 'only when needed' connection. Hassle SE over this, perhaps they can come up with a software countermeasure.
It'll probably have a negative effect on battery life though!

My voice dialling does work, but I know what you mean about it being difficult to know when to speak. I usually look at the phone to see what's going on. As for the ringtones, I thought the HCB-300 has its own. My phone rings in the normal way with its ringtone through the phone speaker, and another different tone comes through my speakers at the same time. It is a bit weird but I can live with that if I can get a constant connection.
I updated the firmware again a few days ago to R1L002, before Sony Ericsson sent the note about another upgrade coming soon. So far I haven't had any disconnections but I don't use it often enough to say it is definitely ok now. I hope to see an upgrade that specifically mentions improvements to the BT now a problem seems to have been acknowledged.
Meanwhile my wife's old Nokia 6210 continues to work exactly as it should do with the HCB-300! She has a profile setup for ordinary use which carries her name so it shows on the screen. The accessories menu shows the handsfree uses the general profile. The ringtone set in the general profile is heard from the phone and from the car-kit so I don't understand what's going on with my K750 above as it is not possible to have different ringtones on different profiles. |

I also have the HCB-300 and have similar problems with my k750i. It worked fine with my previous phone, a T610.
Every so often, lets say 30% of the calls, the mic and speaker drop out during a call. The caller cannot hear me and vice versa.
If you transfer the call to the phone (using the phone menus) then you can continue the call. You can even transfer the call back to the HCB-300 and it works for a few minutes again.
I also upgraded to the latest firmware, and I suspect its slightly better, but the problem is defiantly there. No doubt it’s a compatibility problem with the phone.
FYI all other functions work, i.e voice dial etc. Just this one problem. |
