The phone and the BT car system will conntect then disconnect over and over again.

Seems that sony has modified the hansdfree profile in the z800 and probably all new phones going forward as I also tried a s710a and it does the same thing as the z800..

Neither a z800 or s710a will connect and stay connected with the BT factory kit in my new 3 series, anyone else having this issue?

I also have this problem with the Ford Mobile Ease system.

My SE z600 worked flawlessly & so did my t610 and my t39 so I contact SE and they sent me their standard BS email. Then I contacted Ford and BMW. Still waiting to hear from BMW but Ford said they knew of the issue and tested a fix and that SE would release an update to address this.

Of course SE knows nothing about any update so I have to go back to my z600 in order to use the car systems.

Can I be the only person who is having this issue?

I'm reseaching this subject at the moment.
I spoke with a BMW NZ rep and tested my K700i in a 5 Series. Had the same problem as you. I have a HBH-15 (yes I know it's ancient) B/T headset and the K7 does the same thing with that too.
My guess is that with the power consumption of the 65K screen being so high, SE have decided to connect via B/T only when necessary.
This means that the K7 and similar phones aren't compatible with Original Equipment B/T systems unless SE create a software countermeasure.

T Series and Z600 have 4K screen therefore no such problem.

The BMW NZ rep said that they sell a range of B/T compatible phones that they know work, to prevent customers getting irate.

First time I've heard of a FORD system, though Jaguar and Aston Martin have one. Anyone have any experience with the Ford Mobile Ease B/T Handsfree?

Additional findings - I dropped by delaership last night and did some more testing.

BMW Factory bluetooth
3 series, 5 series and 7 series - Does not work with Z800, s710a. Works with z600, t610, & t38m.

Ford Mobile Ease - Does not work with Z800, s710a. Works with z600, t610, & t38m.

Carkitter - I think your right. I thin k I remember reading somewhere that in order to save power the newer BT phones do not maintain a constant connection to BT devices but rather connect and then go into an "aware but not actively connected" state until a phone call comes in.

It appears that the OEM car kits are unable to work correctly under this new method as they expect a constant connection between phone and car kit in order to function correctly.

I know for sure that the Ford Mobile Ease (made by Pieker) is BT HandsFreeProfile (HFP).96

Given the slow adoption of BT by the car manufacturers I'm willing to bet that most all factory BT car kits are HFP.96 and will have problems with the newer phones coming out now.

At this point in think the only option for factory BMW uses is to convert to this. http://store.caughtbluehanded.com/bmwkits.html
and go with the parrot 3100 processor connected to OEM controls.

I'd just like to confirm the the Parrot 3100 supports the newest SE phones. Anyone?
