Anyone got a proper explanation or solution?

I just bought my phone and facing a similar problem!!

I was on R1J002 - and i couldn't save any photos. I could get my camera to activate, but everytime i tried to snap a shot (the camera will autofocus and i hear it "click") - it would jump back to the main menu.

It may not be a camera or memory card problem - because the video mode works fine! I can record and save my video clips to my memory stick just fine.

I then upgraded my firmware to R1L002 - and my phone worked for 2 days. I could take photos without a problem.

And now, it stopped working again

Any advise out there?

Mines broken too, when I slide back the shutter it goes into the camera briefly and then back to the main menu.

Ive got a call open with the Sony Ericsson support centre but no feedback yet.

Ive asked them whether its a hardware fault or something that is likely to be fixed in a future firmware upgrade.

I'm using R1L002 after having unbranded using DavinciTeam client and then upgraded using SEUS.

yep I fixed my phone by taking it apart and re-attaching the cable between the camera and the main board. Is now working 100% again.

Theres no way that SE can fix this with a firmware update because its a hardware manufacturing defect.

If you dont feel up to dismantling your phone i'd take it to an SE service centre or back to where you bought it from for a replacement.

If you do feel confident in taking it apart then www.se-nse.com has a very good guide to the job in the hardware section of their forum

That happened to me when I got my brand-new phone and I took it out of the box. (And after charging it overnight). I called the SE 800 number and they told me to do a master reset.... that didn't work. Also I went to the SE website and updated the firmware to the latest version. That didn't help either. Unfortunately it's a hardware problem that apparently has to do with some sensor on the lens cover. So don't master-reset it, you will lose a lot of stuff (including the demo tour video) and that's not gonna get the camera to work.

i also have Firmware R1A044 and my camera also doesn't work, at the stiore they said i should try to update on the official SE site, but that doesn't work for me, it gives an unknow error so my phone probably has to go to a service point and i will get an temporary other phone for 2/3 weeks:(...

I'm looking forward to open my K750 later today.
Do You think I only need to open the backcover?
What connector was the problem, as I think I can see 2 connectors on the nice pictures on se-nse.com?
What tool did You use to open it ?
Did it make any scratches what so ever to open it?
...even on the inside? (Warranty considerations..hehe)

BTW.. If I slide the lenscover rapidly twice I can get a brief look at the camera screen in a bordeaux colour with a "101" in the bottom left corner when holding the phone vertikal, does that give any clues?

I'm the unlucky-type-o-guy that are shure that for some unknown reason will have to wait 3 months if I send my K750 for repair.
That's the reason I wanna fix it by the kitchentable.

Damn!!

I just did the job.

Not that difficult, however I had to fully strip the phone to get to the last camera plug.

And now my K750 works just fine on the camera.

Thanks a lot for the trick.

@spider - Could be a problem with the switch on the back of the phone which activates the camera when you slide the lens cover back.

I had this problem and it was caused by the connector on the back of the camera coming loose, to fix it you have to take off the front of the phone and the screen, the connector is directly under the screen. It can come loose if the phone takes a knock or is dropped.
