Hi all...
Sorry to post this here, I did this as it might get more views and more people might post replies here. Sorry about posting it here but I really would like some knowledge if people know what I am looking for...
I have recently bought this MP4 Player from eBay:

My question is does anyone know anything about an MTV file type? It's a form of video that plays on some video/mp3 players coming out of China. It seems to use an "AMV" codec for video and definitely uses MP3 for audio. The video/mp3 player comes with its own conversion software: "MTV Convert Tool" (aka GenAmvTool/GenMTVTool)(part of an "MP3 Player Utilities" suite that comes with the player) but I can't find anything about it on the net. I have to use this software to convert my videos to the MTV format but the sound is coming out all wrong so I'm hopping to try some other software.
Using the default software that came with it...the video is fine but the sound does not work properly...you can hear the sound in the bakground but there is a distorting noise over the proper sound. I have all the neccessary codecs, etc for video/audio encoding.
If any one has any information, please inform me, thanks.
Regards

Don't know what MTV. Do you have a sample file that this player will play ? If so use a multi purpose video encoding tool such as ffmpeg - it will tell you what the audio and video streams are composed of ie codecs, bitrate, framerate, sampling etc

I would post a sample but a 5mb file converted to MTV file format turns out to be a whopping 19mb!
Im gonna try the ffmpeg...hopefully I can see what type of compressor they use and what program do you reccomend for me o ue to compress file types?
