Debrand V800 using Z800 firmware |

Hi all
I am about to flash my V800 to Z800 using davinci, from what I can see the latest firmware version is R1Y005.
A couple of questions if anybody can answer, just to put my mind at rest.
Has anybody tried this version yet, does it work?
Are there any problems using 3G or WAP services on the voda network after conversion?
Does the phone model info being z800 cause any probs, other than needing new drivers for USB cable?
Thanks in advance. |

O2 is not correct. It is not all good. Obviously you did not do a search. If you had, you would have noticed that there are several people out there that can not flash their phones. I am one of them. I have a CID 36 phone and there is no way currently with Da Vinci or TMS to do it, so the person that told you this was in a word: WRONG.
Find a guy named gbrooks(do a search) and ask him. He knows for sure.

Hello to you JonnyQuango!
If your phone is CID29 you are very fine!!! I have a V800 flashed many times with TotalMultiServer and all went smooth and the latest version there is: R1AB013 which is newer than R1Y... !
If your phone is CID36 then you 'might' run into a problem but if its CID29 as most of the V800 are... then you can indeed flash it.
You can do a little look-around here and find people say different and sometimes opposing things. Make your own picture. Guarantees are never in a risky world
Good Luck to You! |

Forgot to say:
If you are using it on the Vodafone Network... don't bother flashing. Why would you??? I heard that many features won't work on Voda with a converted V800!!!
Until a Z800i is fully accepted by voda network, makes no sense to flash if you are ON that network!
Just my opinion...but you asked
As for anybody NOT on vodafone...makes every sense to flash ... even to get rid of this voda crap. But YOU, you are still using them... |

Did you notice his, "waiting for the cable" statement? The new v800's are CID 36. There is not way to flash them. The difference is that I have been all over this forum and have read about flashing a v800. I do not simply say, "no problem, go for it". I read, research and provide a much better level of info so that someone will not trash their phone. As far as I am concerned, they can flash until they destroy their EPROM. I got my v800 for 50 Euro, and I get 33% off on SE phones, so I will not even bother to try and flash mine again. It does not work and those telling people to do it without knowing ALL the facts are doing a dis-service here and should be held accountable for their misinformation.

Well my Z800i is a CID 36, and it flashed fine...
Bought the Z800i from Hong Kong, and it came with preinstalles english and chinese language...R1Y005...
Flashed it via TMS, to the latest firmware R1AB013 and all is good.. |

Your might not be a "real" CID36. I know this. TMS and Da Vinci gave me my money back and said that they can not flash the current v800, and this was 3 weeks ago. I am sure my phone is newer than yours. Second, on the various forums other people are having the EXACT same problem that I was having. Not being able to flash their phones. Like I said before, I got my v800 for 50 Euros and I get 33% of on SE phones, so I will not take the chance again of possibly killing my phone. If this guy wants to flash his and it works, great. If not he can come to you and others for advice how to fix his phone, and he can come to me and I will say, "told you so".

Yes I am waiting for a T28 USB service cable to be delivered, I ordered it from www.kobonet.com last week with some credits. As far as the phone being CID36 or CID29 how do I check? had a look in the system info but could not see. As for the phone being new, I have had it since around the end of Jan.
The latest version of SE unlocker says it will do Z800i CID 36, does this not work for V800? see below:
If the phone can be flashed I will be happy to see how it goes, and if I don't miss any of the sevices that may be lost, then it will be worth it just to get rid of the crappy icons. If I do miss certain things then it can always be flashed back to R1D003 voda.
If I kill the phone then I just have to wait till contract renewal time and get a new one.

@Johnny,
Dude, I am not trying to scare you with this flashing thing. I have had trouble as have others here. Do a search and see if you can find the other threads about users flashing their phones. I tried, it didn't work and TMS, SETOOL, and Da Vinci said that it is not possible with CID36 phones. These other people here that have done it probably have CID29 phones or CID36 emulating phones(not quite sure about this, but this is what I was told) and they can flash theirs. The main thing, is, take the chance and see if you get lucky. If so, report back here. As for the site saying it will work, they want your money and will sell you a credit knowing that they can not flash you, but you will have bought the credit and then have to save it until you can flash your phone. Anyway, good luck dude. Post back with results.

Thanks for the advice I'll have another read through the forums tonight, I have already been reading alot of the previous threads in silence, to get an idea of whats going on. You did not say, do you know how I check the CID?? Also I have not spoken to any of the flashing teams about CID36, I was just looking at the title of version 13.2[v2] see the screen shot. Altough the info window on the left says it can not unlock Z800.

I found you my phone was a CID36 once I tried and failed to flash it. It appears in the error log. The reason I bought the credits was because it said that it could flash v800 phones as well. They can, but not CID 36 phones. This is the rub.

So if I try to flash and it is CID36 all I get is the error message and lose my credits, or does it kill the phone?

Firstly, you could have done it wrong, secondly, you could have used dodgy software. SETool manages fine!
