Bluetooth and BMW not working |

I am trying to get bluetooth to work on my factory enabled BMW 645 (2005). I have a SE P900 but I read so many threads in here about the P900 lacking the proper bluetooth profile that I put my SIM in my older T68i which, accoring to BMW, is on their approved and test phone list.
I am able to Pair the phone and car in the Bluetooth options section and on the T68i I do see the little arrows next to the bluetooth icon seemingly indicating some communication with the car BUT (a) in the Communications section of the car menus, it says 'Please activate phone' and I cannot initiate a call on the car by pressing the phone button on the steering wheel nor can I answer a call by pressing the same handset.
Does anyone know if there is something else I might need to do on my T68i to get this to work. I am not even looking to use the phonebook for now but would just love to be able to make and answer calls using the car's handsfree.
Thanks for any help you can give me. |

is the T68 BT set to discoverable? Maybe the first time you have to explicitely connect to the BMW using the search for new devices on T68 & select BMW. I had this too with a T610 & my BT equipped M3. Ever since it worked fine. With my T630 is was no problem at all.
A P910 connects fine (but no phonebook nor sms), but loses most of time the BT connection when incoming call is answered from car, so it's basically useless! |

I do have it set to discoverable and it does see the BMW and pairs and bonds properly. The BMW is listed on my T68i as a paired device and on the BMW it lists the T68i as a paired device in the options but still, I am unable to answer or initiate a call. When I try and go to the phone menu in the car, it simply says PLEASE ACTIVATE PHONE! |

>the BMW it lists the T68i as a paired device in the options

But where do you see that? you see the name of the phone in the telephone menu, so I don't understand what options you mean...??
Did it really beep 3 times after pairing with right paircode?
And it acknowledged 'successful' ?
Maybe with BMW switched on, switch off phone & on again, that did the trick once on my T610 which had a similar issue. It never resurfaced tho'
Other: start BMW, when it says activate phone, go to t68 menu and do a manual connect to the BMW in the device list.
Other: wipe out all BT phones in BMW memory & start again (it can store 4 phones, maybe it needs a clean start!) See BT manual of BMW how to do it.
What firmware of the t68 you have? It requires at least v5 to work correctly, and v8 is latest made. |

Dirkies, thanks for your reply. I see the name of my telephone not in the Communication menu (in there it says Please Activate Phone). I see the name in the Bluetooth Menu where it shows you the list of phones you have paired.
I don't recall any beeping after pairing but I did get a pairing successful message on the phone and the BMW does show up as a paired device.
I will try your other suggestions and let you know (I did try the wipe out and start from clean but it did nothing).
As to the T68 firmware, I do not know what version I have. Do you know how I can tell which firmware is running in the phone?
Thanks. |

@znino
Try the service menu >*<<*<* then select SERVICE INFO then SOFTWARE INFO (< is a left movement of the joystick, > is a right movement).
It works with the K700i, maybe it will work with T68
I'd like to know more about the BMW Bluetooth system. Is an owners manual available over the net? If so, what address? |

Thanks, i was able to get into the info menu. The information on my T68i is as follows:
I see R2B025 and prgCXC125382
I am not sure if that means I have at least V5 or not... |

Your software version is R2B025. Not sure what the other number means. To find the lastest spec software info you could try S/E.com or try your local S/E repair shop. |

R2? oh! That's the reason why: you need firmware R8A015 (including the BT part firmware aswell).
Just reflash the phone at a local SE service center or ask someone who has a terminator LPT/USB dongle to do it for free at home, if he has the right files to do it! Will cost you about 20 euros to do at SE, but worth it!
I did it for a guy who had a T68m and upgraded to T68i R8 and now his phone worked perfect on the BMW, even SMS were shown on screen.
there are quite some bugs in BT with R1 & R2, R5 was the biggest upgrade regarding BT fixes. The latest, R8, is of course still better with extra games, speed & options
the T68 works perfect with BMW: in/out calls, phonebook and sms all happen through the BMW display. |

Wow, thanks. I will try and get the phone re-flashed as you say to R8. |

T68i works fine with BMW's bluetooth. I have pb with Z1010 and V800.
Anyway everithing works a little better when you delete all messages (sms) (receved, sent, archive) before connecting phone to the car.
I can connect my BT laptop to the car too, but sound isn't good.
I really hope BMW and SE will work together... |
