very typical response! And they are supposed 2 be helpful! You probably know more about their company than they do! I would go for one on trademe. They r genuine have bought k750 k800 n95 and n82 all brand new as if u went down 2 the vodafone shop. Just look for the 1 year warranty traders and you should be covered.

I still would never buy a phone from Vodafone. They make all that money from you and sit there thinkin "Yea, well without us you couldnt text ya mates. We dont owe you sh1T". Plain old rude if you ask me. What do they give you for you spending $80+ per month with them? Nothing at all. Until they learn to play nicely, F*** EM! Im gonna try dig around some old associates and find the Free Data access point again. Then download Gbs while saluting them with my 3rd finger.

Hey guys, just an update. The Sony Ericsson T700 looks to have the same fate as the T650i - No NZ sales. Oh well, no loss. I updated the first post though.

So what's happening with everyone?

Tomorrow is my sister's wedding so I'm quite looking forward to wearing my new suit lol. And this morning I went and got my full drivers license finally. I think I impressed the tester... I got a 100% score.

Definitely no loss with the T700......I have a feeling im going to hold onto the N82 for awhile, well longer than i have with other phones in the past!

A wedding aye? They are always good fun. Everyone looks good, especially the girls

Congrats Oli! I am planning to go for my full soon too, ive been rather slack myself! But i also want my learners motorbike license!

Well im set to start my 3rd year 60 day placement/practical for my degree this monday, will be good to get out and work in the real world for once! Although being a student is fun!

C702 and C902 have lost the Coming Soon tag on SE dot co dot nz so their arrival must be imminent! Sad about the T700 though.

@Muhammad Oli
Congrats on getting your full licence!
Hope your sisters wedding goes off WITH an hitch!

@soane28
I'm at the beginning of my degree... studying is more enjoyable than working from my perspective but I miss the income.

DAMMIT my k800i got slammed in the car door this arvo (The beltclip on my case got caught and the timing was very very bad lol) which broke the screen so I can't see ANYTHING!! The cost of repair looks to be similar to my insurance excess so am trying to work out if I should smash it up "beyond repair" to see if I could get a direct replacement. Trouble is Vodafone have stopped listing them I think and the k850i would be the most likely replacement....

What to do what to do.....?

You'll either get another K800i or a K770i if your lucky.
No way Vodafone will give you a K850i to replace a K800i, doesn't matter how much you paid originally or how SE positions the phones at the top of it's range. If the colour of the new phone is not to your liking, you'll need to contact Vodafone to get them to organise a swap. Years ago I got sent a Nokia 3210 to replace my lost Philips Azalis; I rang and refused to accept the Nokia, insisting on a similarly priced Alcatel and got permission to swap it at my local store.

Don't damage it further, you'll only run the risk of being accused of fraud. It's not worth it. If the screen is broken then that should be enough to claim on an insurance policy.

Yeah, next problem being that I'll likely end up with the Vodafone branded one instead of the generic parallel import I currently own... oh well. On the topic of "upgrades" My girlfriend had a Nokia 7390 that had an issue with the flexible cable for the screen that couldn't be resolved and she managed to get a Nokia 6500 as it was the most sensible direct replacement

Have to wait till Monday it seems as the insurance claims number I called (Listed as 24/7) won't actually accept a claim after hours

Dick Smith still has limited stocks of the k800i, and Expert Infotech (Somehow I doubt that the insurance company will go for a parallel import but I might give it a shot anyway)

How does the k770i compare?

Last week I was at St lukes Mall in Auckland and saw a Brown K800i for sale in a Vodafone kiosk - didn't know you could get Brown thru official channels. Some stores up here still have the Black models in stock.

From what I've read here, the K770 is better in every way than both K800 and K810, plus it's thinner too. I never really liked the styling of Black/Brown K800 or the Brown/Purple/Beige K770i but the Black K770 looks sharp!

Hi everyone! I'm back from my sister's two day wedding!

@frankthetank: The K770i is better or the same as the K800i in every way, apart from that it has an LED flash rather than a xenon. I guess its up to you whether or not its worth losing the xenon.

@soane28 and carkitter: Thank you very much. I must say the freedom of being able to drive whenever you like and with whoever you like without worrying is great! Soane28, its definitely worth it!

The wedding went really well. It rained a lot though and it was freezing cold, so that may have affected some of the photos, but I think they'll turn out fine. I took a good 150-odd photos myself, and there were plenty of other cameras about including a professional photographer so I'm sure there will be some great snaps. The reception went on until 2am this morning and I got next to no sleep, so I am really exhausted! Work tomorrow!

frankthetank - the K770 is nice, if you can put up with the ridiculously small screen, and the LED flash. Really like the lens cover myself, perfect for absent minded fiddling!

Oli - great to know you had a good time! Speaking of the weather, has it been cold or what?? Right now i can see my breath!

carkitter - looks like youve got plenty of student life ahead of ya! I picked a 4 year degree so its not over yet (good and bad).

Yeah its been freezing lately. Not so much today though... The sun actually came out for once!

I'm doing a 4 year degree too. But I don't think it matters too much though. I mean, whats another year when you've already done several years of school? Plus university is so easy going.
