Awesome, another Android convert.

I have added that info to the first post.

Sorry guys I just get a bit on edge with ifans and their rudeness and smugness, really i dont care.

Anyway glad to know there is SE users still out there, I want to change my phone now. This is due to the kind of work i do, i need a tablet for being on site so need some ideas as I know SE arent making one at all soon , I am tempted with the Samsing galaxy tablet but with the 2.3 update not available yet, im going to need to keep my options open. I wont be going for the ipad for sure as i would be too restricted with the use and I need for flash too.

Thanks guys hope your all keeping well!! Cheers!!

I haven't seen one of those for years.
You should've asked for a tiki.

Quite scary seeing the videos, as my bus goes right through there every day. I hope all those injured recover quickly

I had to drive over to Glenfield after work tonight to pick up my new phone - a lustre white Xperia X10!
My Zylo got wet last week and the screen has stopped working when the slide is open. I'll send it away for repair (if feasible) and use it as a second phone.

Quite liking this X10 It is running Android 2.1 out-of-the-box and I'm impressed with what I've seen so far.

Yep, survived the tornado just fine, though we live about 500 metres away from where it tore through, so it was a bit of a shock. My friends were right across the road from it and were first on the scene where the man died. They tried to help him but unfortunately he was in a pretty bad way. My friends are understandably pretty sad tonight.

It was really strange seeing and hearing so many emergency services and helicopters circling round the place, and it was impossible to get anywhere in the traffic for quite a while.

But congrats on the X10 carkitter! That's really quite awesome. I still love mine and use it a lot daily, so I'm not even looking for an upgrade yet. Looking forward to 2.3 too!

Yea g, it's nice to see you back here. Haven't heard from you in ages! Still rocking the C905 or have you moved on to better things?

I'm in two minds over the 2.3 Gingerbread update. On the one hand I want the wifi hotspot feature, on the other hand, I don't necessarily want to lose any of the customisation, ie:
(excerpt from Sony Ericsson product blog)

Will any functionality from the previous software version disappear by doing this upgrade?

Yes – the work is still ongoing so details will be communicated closer to launch but these are the current expected limitations:

The current plan is that the XperiaTM X10 will get the Android standard Camera user interface and therefore features like e.g. face recognition, smile shutter etc will be lost.
Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality.
Mediascape is being replaced by the media experience widgets and music player included in our new 2011 products.
DRM keys for protected content on your phone will be lost in the upgrade process.
The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost.
Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the XperiaTM X10.

What are the major differences between 2.3 on XperiaTM X10 and 2.3 on your 2011 range, for example Xperia arc?

In short, the intention is that the Xperia X10 will receive similar software and functionality that we have in our new 2011 Xperia smartphones. The current ambition is to provide the majority of functionality of the Gingerbread platform, as well as the Sony Ericsson specific UI and features that are not restricted by hardware limitations (for example no HDMI out). The final scope of the software is still work in progress but we are working to minimize the differences. We will get back with more details closer to launch.

Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality. (Thank god. Those Moxier apps are a waste of space)
Mediascape is being replaced by the media experience widgets and music player included in our new 2011 products. (Awesome, I hate Mediascape. It's so laggy and poorly laid out)
DRM keys for protected content on your phone will be lost in the upgrade process. (Oh well)
The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost. (There are better alternatives)
Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the XperiaTM X10. (Don't use it)

Sounds pretty positive to me.
