Yep and they have their first SE phone. And it's very overpriced. And apparently I can't link to it because of the way their website is set up (it's the W395 anyway).

Considering it isn't even A2, it's SE's cheap phone OS and you can get say, Naite for $349 or a W595 for $399 on Vodafone, 2degrees' price seems like a straight rip-off.

EDIT: Apparently carkitter is always one step ahead of me. Thanks for updating the phones section in the first post mate.

Ok, can you guys help me out here. I'm looking for a hsdpa modem, can be usb or ethernet, one thats not slow like vodem, and ideally has ability to connect an external antenna. And not too expensive.
Thanks

Is the Vodem slow?
There are 4 Vodem's - the 3.6 Mbps model, the white 7.2Mbps Vodem Stick, the black 7.2Mbps Vodem Stick with 2.0Mbps upload and a new one with 21Mbps HSPA+ capability. All are perfectly adequate and only resrticted by the network speed in your area.
At present, using a phone as modem is just as good. Most decent new phones support 7.2Mbps/2.0Mbps HSPA+. XT look like they'll be first to 21Mbps but I would be wary of signing a contract with Telecom and ending up on out of date technology as often happens to Telecom customers.

iPhone customers are still getting 3GB extra per month. Add that to a 7.2Mbps iPhone 3Gs and you've got quite a sweet deal. iPhone tethers nicely too, especially with W7.

I don't think the external aerial is needed these days. Tests I've done show minimal signal loss in urban areas. Only the PCMCIA card modems have aerial connections and new laptops don't have PCMCIA card slots any more.

BTW, did you guys know that Dell NZ sells Alienware laptops from their online store? I specced a fully decked out model with Core 2 Quad extreme, 8GB RAM, 1GB graphics, W7 Ultimate, Blueray player, changable backlighting colours and full warranty and it came to 11 grand. What a machine! Wish I could buy it...

My e220 went on a go slow too, send it in for repair.
I heard many complaints about Vodafone's 3g speed in the CBD but tests I have done with speedtest.net give a 1Mbps+ result - 1.2Mbps with V640i, 1.7 with the iPhone. Speedtest.net is not good for testing very fast 3G speeds because the test file is too small, it's over before 3G gets up to full speed (which takes longer than with a landline connection.)

I'm not surprised! Everyone in the world is on facebook except for me, and Bebo is full of Spambots. MySpace fell of the radar ages ago, and Twitter has never really gained huge popularity in NZ at least.

There's a few HUGE SE Aino advertisements up in Christchurch now. One where that X1 ad used to be (the one I posted a photo of) and one over in Riccarton (richer suburb). Both are official SE ads and not Vodafone or Telecom too which is cool cause it shows they're finally putting in some effort! The ads mostly advertise the Remote Play feature of Aino.

Bebo is dead. Facebook is much, much better. My favourite social networking site however, has to be youtube, if you even count that as social networking.
