K700 wont start. ugh! |

Hi folks,
I've a k700 that was working fine for last couple of months until it started showing "Charging Alien Batter" while charging. I thought it was a bug (as these creatures have an amazing ability to survive) and restarted the phone, restarted it several times till the batter drained.
Next, it wont start. Damn!
I tried a different charger, nothing. Tried to clean the batter, nothing. Tried the 'Master Reset', nothing. Tried to remove the batter for couple of hours, nothing still.
Then I thought of upgrading the firmware from 'SonyErcisson Live Update Service'. Bought a new DSS-20 ($18.32) for the firmware shit, but it wont progress as it requires the phone to be ON and the battery to be FULLY CHARGED which it wasnt and I could do nothing about it.
I thought of chaning a battery ($14.89) and I bought one now, but still the same. It shows 'Charging Alien Battery' still and the battery doesnt charge even after several hours.
So, after spending too much time and money on this, I'd want to do this myself (if you guys help) rather than getting to the SE Service Center.
Currently, the phone turns on with both batteries (old and new) but it displays "Charging Alien Battery' still nor does the battery charge that I can update the firmware.
Ah yes, a few minutes ago, I came across a thread about 'flashing'. Whats it and would that help at all?
Thanks in advance. |

And yes, just once when the phone had enough batter, it proceeded to step 2 of 'SE Live Update Service' but then it was interrupted again with a message saying 'Your Provider doesnt support Live Update'. I dont remember the exact words but it sounded similar.

hmmmmmmmm..... here is a crooked way out. take a nokia and remove its battery. then take leads from your phone and put them on to the nokia's batt and you will have a fully charged phone. now try SEUS.

Ok, judging from what you have done, i am asuming you got a new original battery and charged it.
If this is the case and the phone is still not working, there is nothing much we can do. That will mean that you need to take the handset into your nearest service point and demand a replacement. The unit is under warranty so you should have no trouble getting it swapped out immediately.
What you could also try is get a battery from a buddy or somebody that has the same phone, make sure its fully charged, then use it and do an update of the firmware on the phone (this is commonly referred to as flashing) and see what happens.
Hope this gives you some sort of solution. Good luck.

does any of your friends own an SE? then get the batt from them. else, use a nokia batt. the leads will noot line up properly, so you will have to use some wires and masking tape to get it working and then do an online update.

Best is take in to a service centre irrespective of the warranty status, they will be able to help you best.
I suggest you be careful when messing around with the nokia battery suggestion, you could damage your phone totally if you are unsure of what you are doing!

The battery changing thing seems dangerous to me as well.
I wonder what'd the service center guys do to get it working? |

They will probably use one of the batteries they have and then fash the phone, or just swap out the phone.
in the forum cos i remember that there was a thread regarding this.

hmm..probably.
And they charge $12 for just doing that? wow!
Even Microsoft used to charge a bit lower than that for a Windows 95 error eh!

An Update on my Problem
I managed to charge my battery through a friends k700i and updated the firmware via SEUS. Update was successful without any errors.
Intrestingly (Shockingly), the phone still has the same problem of displaying 'Alien battery'.
DAMN!!
I'll 'have to' take it to the service center now finally and let them screw it. Sheesh!
Wish I just knew what caused this problem and a possible way to solve this. NO ONE here has/had the same problem ever??
Any help greatly appreciated. |

One more thing to include:
I tried three different chargers today to check the integrity of my charger. Shockingly (again), it displayed 'Charging Alien battery' in all three. |

As I said earlier, I've another new battery now that doesnt solve the problem too.
I checked my old battery on a friends phone too, it works perfectly fine. |
