This is really becoming a NIGHTMARE. Now I have downloaded the latest version of synchstation, managed to download the seus exe file, installed both of them, connected and installed dss-20, turned off firewall, turned off pop-up blocker (XP sp2), and just when I thought it was all over, and that my phone is going to be updated, another message appears (SYNCHSTATION NOT FOUND) !!!!!!!!!!!

Java Console reports this :

init()
----------------------------
Sony Ericsson Update Service
Applet version: v1.23

InstallDir = C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Service
versions should be:1.18, 1.00
install_package_version=1.18
upgrade_package_version=1.00

, and then the message "Syncstation not found" appears. I get two options, retry and cancel, when I hit retry nothing happens, but when I hit cancel, Java Cosnole reports this :

WARNING: Default charset Cp1250 not supported, using ISO-8859-1 instead
Strem end

What does "Default charset Cp1250 not supported, using ISO-8859-1 instead" mean, and WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG, AND WILL I EVER UPDATE MY PHONE ?????

If this has anything to do with it (being as desperate as I'm now makes me tell everything, just to get some help), when I connect my phone on dss-20, it is still not recognized in My phones directory (says 'No phone connected'),but phone monitor recognizes it, and synchronisation is not a problem to be completed. The phone software information is :

I had this problem only once, straight after I had installed all the software. I reset my computer and all was fine (well nearly, it turned out O2 had no updates for my phone so it was all a bit of a waste of time, but meh)

I have reseted it , well, about five times, if U consider, turning it off for the night, and the problem still remains.

It might be a hardware problem.

There are two types of DSS-20. The one that comes with P800 will not work with SEUS. Check the sticker on the bottom of the SyncStation. If it explicitly says "DSS-20", it should work. If you can't find "DSS-20" there, it won't work.

Mine is labeled DSS-20, so that is not where the problem occurs, although I got my DSS with p800.

right here we go

1 check com port is not disabled for sync station ( most common fault )

2 Make sure its not on comm 4 for some reason it doesn't like it

3 make sure you have the latest Jave on this can be down loaded from Sun Java J2SE v 1.4.2_07 JRE

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

make sure firewall is off if you have a router with built in firewall thats ok if you have XP firewall then switch it off

4 make sure phone fully charged

5 run sony ericsson sync program assuming phone is in station

6 go to SE and try agin

this should fix the problem it did for me

@bettyswollocks

Could it be that I'm so stupid or what ???
I did everything as U said, but, the problem remains.
Exept for one thing: should the phone be turned on or off when I put it in on the dss-20 ????? And why is it that my computer still doesn't recognize the phone, although the phone monitor shows that it is connected ?????? I have the PC suite installed from the disc I got with the phone.

It has to be on all the time & without being charged. Only the phone ON on the dock station without the charger.

I tried everything U suggested, and still nothing. Is it possible that I have installed the wrong dss drivers ??? I installed win2k drivers. Should I have installed win98me drivers, that are also downloaded from the site together with 2k ???? I'm using xp sp2, and have turned off everything (firewall, pop-up blocker, even Norton antivirus. What now ????
