Hi all,

Orange UK are doing a promo until the end of April where access to Orange World via. GPRS and WAP is not chargable.

This also means you can have free unlimited access to WAP sites and WEB sites for the duration of the promo period.

The following GPRS access points are included in the promo: payginternet, paygwap, orangewap and orangeinternet. Also the CSD Dial Up number is included.

Unlike the O2 free GPRS, Orange does not use a proxy and supports cookies and files over 1Mb, which O2 do not support. This morning I bought a PAYG Orange SIM card, it came with £1 credit and I connected immediately using my laptop, T610 and the "orangeinternet" access point.

So far I've downloaded the free iTunes song (3.5Mb), another file (3.1Mb), logged into gmail and other sites that need cookies. Also, all ports seem open and I have connected to FTP sites, USENET and my iDisk without problems.

For settings see: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

I hope this isn't a repost but it seems a great way of getting online on the move... for free!

Jonathan.

Yeah it supports cookies, SSL etc. I have also managed to get native MSN Messenger for Mac OS X to work without changing any of the proxy settings. Just seems wonderful!

@ten:

Orange do permit £5 top-ups but if the phone is saying 'activation rejected' then perhaps you haven't used it in a few months and it's been disconnected, or something like that? Or perhaps it's a very old SIM and GPRS hasn't been enabled? What happens if you dial 07973 100 500 (the free CSD number) instead of a GPRS AP.

I havent used it since july lol. I can still make reserve calls with it so it probably isnt disconected. the free csd number doesnt work, "call was not answered" is all I get.
Looks like im jus gona have to top up to get free gprs lol
