Unfortunatly the symbian OS on sony ericsson does not allow us to send sms through the address book. I know it is so frustratiing considering it works so well with the other SE phones e.g. K700, T68i....

Yeah, there is a software called address book, which connect to the phone via bluetooth. When you recieve a text message, it will pop up on the computer screen, and you have an option to reply from there as well, it is obviously much quicker as you can type the message with the computers keyboard.
Its a great piece of software that comes standard with all Macs OS X

Yep, even with an onscreen keyboard, it's a lot faster just typing it out and sending it through address book.

Here is the scoop,

MacOSX has addressbook.app. If you have a bluetooth module (dongle or builtin) you see a bluetooth symbol on the addressbook's top bar. When you click on it, it associates your phone to the application. When someone calls, you see a callerId window pop up on your computer with choices like answer, hangup, voicemail and reply with SMS.

Also, you can ctrl-click or right click on a phone number and you can dial through the phone or send an SMS from some phones.

With the t68i, t610 etc, SE put SMS in the AT command set, allowing you to send an SMS message through your phone. A nice little way of sending quick messages to people in your address book.

When SE put out the P800,P900, and P910 they took SMS out of the command set because they felt that the interface on the phone was good enough to send messages from.

This may be something as easy for them as a FW upgrade, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Had a little email conversation with the author of BluePhoneElite and he assured me that in 3 or 4 months, SMS support will be in that app! (They have to write an app that sits on the phone to translate)
