I agree with you. I also don't like clamshell design. But I have to admit that lots of people do and it is going to be more and more popular. |

I would love to see a new flip design, not a clamshell. A flip gets all the advantage of a clamshell and all the advantage of a candybar. I love that my P910 is a flip to some extent. |

Yes, flip phones are nice. I had T10s, T18s and T39m. And my girlfriend had her first phone - red GF 768.

I still think the best designed phone I ever had was the T28, well tiny and really thin! Ok the flip did open randomly and the screen was tiny....but still, what a great phone! Was the first phone to really compare to Nokia in the UI. Although now SE have obviously completely surpassed Nokia on the UI! |

I think I prefer a straightforward candybar, they just look neater though I draw the line at them being too small. I still think clams will be popular for a while though and SE should bring out more this year or they might lose out. |

I think SE would benefit from making a clamshell smartphone, a candybar smartphone and the standard P series smartphone.
It would eat into Nokia's sales dramatically if SE were to provide more than just phones aimed at business users with smartphones.

The thing I like most about Flip phones is the convenience. It can be easily opened with one hand and you don't have to think about locking keys or accidentally pressing the keys while the phone is in your pocket. It also looks neater IMO.

i too would love a flip. not clam... because with flips, you could flick your wrist and open the phone and talk into it. looks cool in public.

I think flip phones are going out of fashion. A year ago they were in fashion. Now I think Candybar phones are coming back-SE, Motorola, Samsung, etc. must have done their market research and this is obviously the answer that they came up with-that candybar phones would sell better! That is why SE have released so many new candybars lately.

Well, it depends on the design, and how good the build quality on the Z550 is.
I have one, but its build quality is pretty shocking. The hinge like so have small horizontal movements in closed mode, creaks when opening, and the back cover is loose. All isn't too bad, but it really depends on how much experience a manufacturer has with producing them.
