The Joystick on my K700i is becoming very tempremental. It doesn't work consistently in any direction or in pressing. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

the joystick is an absolute joke in my opinion, its obvious SE overlooked it as it is junk and pathetic build quality, my K700 came with a off center joystick, nothing beats a good quality well designed D pad

Same with my joystick, cleaning helped a little but it is still bad. To make it a bit better I took off the front and lifted the gray part of the joystick up a bit so it was slightly raised off the surface and it worked better but obviously pressing the joystick in makes it go back down after time.

Poor build quality has led to these problems. I have not seen anyone complain about the S700 so I guess SE realised that the build quality of the K700 was pap!

its a real shame, as the K700 could have been such a great phone, but a few minor things will shorten its life dramaticly in my mind. also the fact it is a high end mobile, mistakes like the joystick are unforgivable.

Replacing will not solve. Apparently mine has a mind of its own. The down action is sometimes stubborn and may refuse to work, and if it starts to work then there is no stopping till it reaches the end. Taking to service tmrw to get it cleaned.

@govigov
Just to warn you my local Servise centre couldn't repair it so they sent it off.
That was a week ago.

It shouldn't cost anything as it's under warranty and unless you have damged it yourself somehow.

One thing i hate is when a manufacture needs to take the prduct away for a period of time wehn it was 100% their fault for the 'fault', un-exceptable in my opinion

@lembo dont worry, i can walk to my service centre, i usually go there when i'm bored for chat with the service engineer. I can get the joystick cleaned in about half an hour. I did it once before and he did a good job of it. I'm 100% confident of him, he even showed me the dust inside. I had the previlage of using the j200 and K508i before it hit the market. (Read my thread about it in asia section)
