Is this possible? I dont care if the inner keyboard doesnt work. YOu see my old P900 keypad is pretty bruised already and scratched up. was thinking if it would be possible to buy the P910i flip instead? What do you think? |

The connectors on the P900 are different compared to the P910.

....although the contacts in the middle are the same. It has been suggested that these may be sufficient for the front buttons to work, and that the extra ones are for the keyboard. In which case there's a chance. This is just guesswork though - I don't know if anyone's actually tried, and it probably doesn't work. |

Yup, and with a P905 (a P900 with P910 firmware) it could be a chance to get the QWERTY keypad to work.... if it fits and works with flip closed....

As mentioned many times before, the keyboard on the back of the flip will not work because the P900 mainboard was never designed to support it.
Even if all the contacts were in the right place, the P900 board would not recognize it.
Sorry to dissapoint you!

Well if all the pins fit are you sure then??? Im not sure... if they fit! We were told that the P900 hardware couldnīt ever use MS PRO DUO cards, but then it worked..... huh?

It might be possible using P910 firmware on a P900 mainboard, but i seriously doubt it. Like i said, i'll give it a try tomorrow and post the results.

Update!
As many of you were asking, i decided to test the P910 flip on a P900 phone.
It did not work. Even though the phone was responding to the keys being pressed, it was not doing the desired action.
For example, pressing a number would bring up my Contacts.
I didn't bother trying the P900 flip on a P910 because
A) It's pointless
and B) If the P910 flip doesn't work in the P900, then it's not going to work the other way around either
Here are some pictures of the internal pins of both phones.

P910 Pins
P900 Flip Contacts
P910 Flip Contacts
Hope this puts your mind to rest.

Good work djkizlive. Now we can all stop wondering.
Interesting that it does something though. But not very useful. |

Cheers
Perhaps different results may be obtained with P910 firmware on a P900, but i don't have one to test it on right now.
For my next project, i want to put a blue backlight in the P910's flip. What are your thoughts on this? Possible or not?
