Hi folks,

I spoke to customer services today and was told 3g would be in place before my upgrade date which is 21 April 2005.

The man said that he was one of the 'team leaders' and he could not comment on what handsets etc but O2 would launch one of their own.

I had been reported before here and other sites that O2 are working closely with NTTDocomo but I also think that is for i-mode licencing only!

I want to use my 3G O2 handset in Japan!

Anyway here got any ground breaking news!

Keeping fingers crosssed.

the first official o2 3G launch phones are the O2 X4, Nokia 6630 and Samsung Z107, and a 3G data card.

O2 have been somewhat cautious when it comes to 3G, certainly in comparison to Vodafone and Orange. Hopefully the extra time they have taken was to improve their initial service.

i speak with o2 rep's every week, as part of my job, and when i asked him about 02's 3G service he told me that the 4th of february would be the definite launch...furthermore, he said the reason o2 has been slow with the launch is that they had been watching 3, the network, and vodafone, and watching what was happening with their services in regards to problems etc, so that they could avoid the same pitfalls...good things come to those who wait..as they say... i hope thats true of o2...we shall see...lol.

Right 3g went live 1st march on PREPAY...

and was released around a month earlier on POSTPAY...

the nokia 66xx and the x4 both have down sides...

x4 doesnt support video calls....

and the nokia needs an attachment to make full use of video calls...
