Is there a *real* need for this?
How likely is it that we will become "infected"? Are there many Symbian viruses out there? |

It's a nice idea.. but surely it's just going to be a waste of CPU usage. I notice in the pic it says 'Stop Monitor', well if that software is going to be constantly monitoring the phone, surely it's going to cause slow down?
All i can suggest is that you take regular backups of your phone, and then if you were infected with a virus, surely a Restore from the SE website would fix it?
I don't even have an antivirus on my PC.. it's perfectly secure without one.
The only benefit i can see for it is protection against bluejackers sending viruses to unprotected phones, but what are the chances of that?
Make your phone undiscoverable whilst you're out, and then you have no worries.

Would your phone get infected if you don't accept the sis file being sent?
I think not.
So, even if leave your on and discoverable but at the same time not accept anything that is sent to your phone, you are completely safe.
Somebody, please correct me if am wrong at this assumption.

That only applies to P910 users (or P905 users). The P900/P800 does not ask you if you would like to accept a file or not. It recieves files automatically when you're set to discoverable. This could be a reason why they developed it. But like i said, it's simple enough to turn bluetooth off..

Just to add, the P800 does have the option:
Receiving items: Always receive
Ask first
Never receive

i would also like to add that you "would not" have to give permission for the virus to be installed as it could come packaged in a .sis file of a legitamate programme which may have been downloaded via peer 2 peer, blue tooth is not the only way to b infected, i monitor AV companies for a number of work related reasons and the reports of portable device virus is on the increase not real threat as of yet i admit but a real possibility in the future
