They gave O2 a real going over. O2 have admitted that the K700i isnt completely compatible with O2`s sms system so O2 have stopped selling the K700i.

news on this on BBC Watchdog Website.

O2 Mobile Phones

18th January 2005

Four years ago, a mobile phone company called BT Cellnet reinvented itself and became O2. Thousands of O2 customers have since complained to Watchdog. Some of these complaints may be little more than an annoyance, like not being able to view bills online, poor reception, nobody calling back. Others are more serious.

One student we spoke to switched her account to a "Pay As You Go" yet O2 kept billing her. Without her knowledge, they'd upgraded her to a higher tariff and told her if she wanted to cancel she'd have to pay a £119 fee. O2 eventually apologised for their mistake and promised to close her account. She thought that would be the end of it, until she got a letter from a debt collection agency saying they would take her to court if she didn't pay up.

In another case, a viewer found that her picture messaging wasn't working. When she rang O2's technical support line to get it fixed, she found out she was getting charged at a premium rate. The problem took some time to resolve and it ended up costing her £70 in calls to the service line.

O2 have been selling the Sony Ericsson K700i - a phone that isn't completely compatible with their network. Some models of this phone can't receive text messages on the O2 network yet it is still being promoted by the company.

O2 say they have 14 million customers, over 100 million daily transactions and 500,000 weekly calls into their service centres and sometimes can get things wrong. When this happens, they say they don’t make excuses or defend the indefensible. They fix the problem as quickly as they can, apologise and provide appropriate credits and goodwill.

Regarding the Sony Ericsson K700i, they want to set the record straight. In a small number of recent cases, customers have experienced problems sending texts. Total reported faults represent a fraction of 1% of all K700i’s sold. They say they replace any device with a reported fault. While they are working with Sony Ericsson to eliminate this unusual issue, they are temporarily stopping new sales of this handset.

And I've just renewed my O2 contract for a year!

I have a K700i and used it on O2, but haven't had too many problems with it, although I did buy the k7 sim free off Ebay - I wonder if it's O2's firmware that's messing the phone up?

So at 50p a minute she was on the line for 2hrs 20mins.

That must of been one good picture she wanted to send
