demand for GPS build in phones is still low.
its not cheap either.
in time i'm sure SE phones will have build in GPS. like P3000. but for now a Bluetooth GPS accesoir would be better. one like nokia introduced a few months back
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

In scientific terms, iridium is a rare metal found on asteroids and comets. The Iridium being mentioned here is the name of a satellite phone company i think.

Irdium happened to be moto's satellite phone. It so happened, mrs moto was in the african shooting, mr moto could not get hold of her for a week. Back home, mrs moto asked mr moto that it is a shame that you being the communication header cannot contact her. And proposed of a global phone. One number for the whole world. Mr moto put 36 sats on air for Irdium. Apparently there is not a square foot on earth where Irdium will NOT have coverage.

Iīm surprised that you are not up to snuff on this?!
The Motorola A925 has GPS today 3 Sweden has crippled it though, to make their customers use their own locator service. As i think about it, i think there are other current Motos with GPS as well, maybe the A1000.. not quite sure though.
I have a GPS receiver for my car (Ģ90) and the software in my iPaq, used it last summer to navigate during vacation. I tell you it was worth its weight in gold in central Stockholm
EDIT: Have a look/read: http://www.gsmarena.com/index[....]/motorola_a925-reviews-604.php

Does gps work everywhere on the globe? There might be some areas where the US satellites doesn't have coverage. Do they?

AFAIK the sattellites arenīt like fixed
They circle the globe and cover pretty much most of it.. try googling for it, i donīt really know, but my GPS should work all over Europe and in North America anyways.

Iridium was the satellite phone network company with a whole lot of satellites to cover the earth.
Costs and lack of take up on their services was what made them take down the network (or sell it, not sure).
My opinion though is if you want a GPS, get a dedicated GPS, since more attention to detail and functionality would be dedicated to JUST the GPS, whereas with a multifunction device (like a GPS mobile phone) there would be compromises and sacrifices...thus not allowing the best design. (One such dedicated device that is available and that works beautifully is the Tomtom GO GPS system).
Besides, the processor on the mobile device (especially current Pxxx series) would have to upgraded to handle this extra workload. However, convergeance is the way things are going...so i guess its inevitable!
On the other hand, would you realy want that amount of radiation in your ear with a GPS antenna in a GPS mobile phone??

govi / whizzkid:
If you would like to see GPS mobile device functionality, there are PDA's with built in 3G/GSM phones and GPS adapters (accesories) from companies like HP etc.
Tomtom (http://www.tomtom.com) offer a GPS suite for PDA's...and soon to be offered for the P900 series as well!
There is a thread about this somewhere in the forum - just gotta find it and post it here.
