ive got a p910i my bro has a p900. He got his phone 2nd hand and it came without a memory card. Ive just got a 512mb pro duo and have my 32mb pro duo spare. I know the pro duo wont work in the p900 but i also know that the difference is software based so i was wondering if there was a program to convert the pro duo to the normal duo to save him buying a new memory card? |

i'm sure you can't... but i wonder if it's possible to reformat the pro duo in fat format, like the normal duo's |

There is no program that will do it but you can get a modified firmware flash that will do what you want.
There is a guy, in fact two guys, on here who do it in the United Kingdom.
One of them I think is called "gbrook3"
Do a search and you will find the relevant thread about this conversion.
There is also a guy in the USA doing the conversion.
But be warned. The conversion is not without its problems. Read the relevant threads to find out.
Good luck.

The only current way to make a P900 use PRO Duos is to get it flashed with P910 firmware.
I've had this done by "handymobilez uk" & I call it a P905
The only real problem is that the Bluetooth no longer works with headsets but file transfer & sync etc work fine.
I've encountered no other problems & there are many advantages, u can read more in the lengthy thread on this topic.
Alternatively, I have a 128MB Duo for sale for £30

Is it the HighSpeed 160Mbps one or the normal 20Mbps?
Mine is HighSpeed

I don't think it makes a difference since the P-series (including the P910) can't use the high speed parallel transfer system...so the High-Speed Duos switch over to normal mode.

But it would make a difference when transfering data to/from the Duo using a PC with card reader for example, or in other Sony devices which can utilise it.

didint know CPW was doin them for that price. I was just hoping to use my old pro duo, i just thought its less than the 128 max and its only software that is the difference between pro and normal so i thought there might be away to switch between the two types. Anther question i had was wen i got my 512mb stick and formatted it in my phone it only has 469mb usable, now i know there are hidden files on there that make it work properly but 43mb worth of them?? |

the filesystem is fat-16 and that by itself makes you lose a lot of space. you'll lose even more if you have lots of smaller files - we're back to windows dark ages. |
