@floke

I can see your point, but it makes no difference who has that post. the 1000000 post means nothing by itself, its all the other posts, right from the very first one that should be celebrated.

What is the maximum number of posts? would that just depend on the esato server?

@gbrooks--yes, the whole thread is kind of self-referential and silly. But lots of things on esato are; look at all the responses to that troll who logged on just to slag off the k700 and s700. Talk about a waste of energy.

But it's fun to watch the countdown, like New Year's Eve. That doesn't mean anything either, really.

All this reminds me of a story. It begins like this:

This Is the Title of This Story,
Which Is Also Found Several Times in the Story Itself
By David Moser

This is the first sentence of this story. This is the second sentence. This is the title of this story, which is also found several times in the story itself. This sentence is questioning the intrinsic value of the first two sentences. This sentence is to inform you, in case you haven't already realized it, that this is a self-referential story, that is, a story containing sentences that refer to their own structure and function. This is a sentence that provides an ending to the first paragraph. ...

Here's the rest of it for those who are interested...

@brooks--I'm a writer (journalist, really). So yes, I guess you could say I'm interested in language.

What are you studying in particular? We can continue this on PM if you prefer.
