How do I convert MP3 and WAV files on my P910i to MIDI and IMY ringtones that can be used on a SE Z600 or other phones?
Thanks in advance |

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and IMY (iMelody) are, to the best of my knowledge, files which contain instructions that tell the device to play certain instruments at certain times to create a tune. IMY is a specific format for cellphones to allow it to light up or vibrate as well.
Therefore it is not possible to convert an audio stream from a WAV or MP3 to these formats.

@ Syntax
I think you may be wrong. I just found a program that claims to be able to convert WAV and MP3 files to MIDI.
It seems to have some good reviews and is available as a free Demo/Trialware download. And if you read the FAQ and System Requirements pages you will find a program that can turn files into suitable files for ringtones.
Go to the intelliScore website here: http://www.intelliscore.net/index.html
Any tips from other Esato members would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

What syntax said is absolutely true, you cant convert mp3 or wav to midi or imy.
There are quite a few software which claim to do so, but you wont get what you expected. I know cause i've tried quite a few.
You'd probably get something garbled as the output.
Either that or you need to be an extreme expert in order to use those software to get a proper midi tone from the mp3 or wav file.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your attempt !! |
