Hi all!

I've just found out that O2 are having compatibility problems with O2 branded K700i phones. As a result, O2 customers may not receive some or all SMS messages from other networks. I've only found this with vodafone as the missus keeps ranting at me for ignoring her texts. From what I've read, O2 and SE are working to resolve the problem but haven't given an ETA yet.

Anyone else having similar problems?

(My 1st post btw )

Don't know the solution, but you might check if you use GPRS as SMS access under data comms settings. Try changing to GSM to see if it helps.

And yes, I've been bitted by this too, and am on the verge of ditching O2.

Tried that with no luck. It was workin a couple of days ago, now I get nothing. When I leave my K700i near speakers I can occasionally hear what sounds like a message (you get to know the sounds) coming through, but I never actually receive them.

A few people have suggested to ditch O2 but I'm more than happy with my contract (which I've just extended by another year) and this is the 1st major problem I've had.

So you think the messages actually reach the phone, but then disappear? In my experience I've lost a lot messages, but some I can receive when I put the sim card in a nokia phone.

Not sure. I think that O2 are attempting to send the messages, but because of some incompatibility, the phone is either rejecting it or just simply ignoring it. Just wish they'd hurry up about fixing it!

Another thing I've heard is that O2 have started using a new prefix, which the other operators are unable to send sms messages to yet, but I'm not on this prefix. It's apparently 07921.

It seems this problem is not confined to the k700i.

Thanks crisnash02, seems the problem hasn't gone away yet then. Guess all I can do is wait. Hopefully they'll get it sorted soon!

How can you be sure it's not a combination of O2 and sonyericcson mobiles? I don't have the problems with other providers using the same phone.

The most anoyying was last week when I was texted to go to a party and took 2 HOURS to get to me which at that time was too late.

I've been missing messages and getting others really delayed over xmas. The worst took 2 days and 4 hours! O2 said that they have been very busy but it should get back to normal soon.

Absolutely appalling, what can I do?
