Please guys.
The software is brand new.

I did use the search but could not find anything related to Outlook add-ins to send sms messages from within Outlook.

Apparently there was such software from Ericsson themselves but support for it ended around the T65 - plenty of posts about the T68 not working with it. And also posts about the software having disappeared from the SE site.

So if anyone would please point me to a thread where you can get relevant information about an existing, useable and downloadable software to send sms-messages from Outlook, do not hesitate.

I know that you can do it with FMA but if it is included in Outlook, even partial, it is a different story.

Thereīs another provider implying sms messages into Outlook for fixed rates - mobile-independent, microsoft links to it anywhre on their sites (donīt remember), but I guess it was only for german networks and as long it is not usable with your phone & provider I guess itīs not exactly what youīre looking for..

There are plenty of services allowing you to send sms's from outlook, but it invariably goes by a server of them and you have to pay for your messages. This Microsoft add-in sends it through your phone directly.

Apparently there has been E/// software that did this too but it has disappeared (see above).

I have downloaded the add-in and want to try it but have to wait.

Am also waiting for the search results coming from the nice people above.

I did installation, next start it said 'office 2003 service pack 1 is required to use this add', I loaded the small Version (24 MB over 56k-line - argh!) and got the message 'The software is not the one that has been expected' - what a ridicolous message. I think I have to get the bigger Version of service pack 1 (80MB) which was proposed when having problems - but not over my 56k-line..

'nice people's discussion' is gone..

I downloaded the servicepack. I'll try it all in the WE. I'll keep you informed in this thread.

Nice people have gone indeed. Makes some references in previous messages a bit pointless. But prefer a clean surrounding!

It works fine.
I first installed office sp1. Then the Outlook add-in. Nothing spacial about that.

I already have the SE sync-software installed and working. I went back to the configuration screen in windows, go to bluetooth-devices, click on the icon of your phone and then choose properties - services; when the phone is on and bluetooth is on it Windows will search for the installed services. Tick DUN if it isn't selected already - which it wasn't in my case because it was of no use. When ticked, Windows will recognise this new service and install it all by itself as a new standard modem over bluetooth. Maybe it is better to avoid that and force windows to install the scripts you can find on the SE site but it went too fast for me.
Then go to outlook, and you'll notive the new menu-bar immediattely. Click on options and choose the bluetooth modem. Et voila that 's it. I never expected it to be this smooth. Chances are that you gan go to Outlook immediately and that it will work already.

On the plus: easy, copy-paste, no extra program running, makes use of your outlook con, tacts that have a mobile phone entered
On the minus: no status report, since the message is sent inside outlook. It does not appear in your sent messages in the phone.

On the whole something I'll leave installed. If only I could install it at work too.

The advantage of this and using the SE software is that all the phone stuff is integrated with the rest of your programs.

What version of office do you use?

What is annoying in the ad-in is that it has a stubborn toolbar: the bar always appears under your other bars, you have to move it up manually every time you start Outlook, and you can't move the icons into another toolbar neither can you set the icons in the sms-toolbar to display only icon and no text.

Add that to the minus-side. Maybe the fma-solution is more effecient after all.
