What re d good options for a cellphpne ranging in price from 17k -20k in INDIA?
Btw i m lookin for a cell with 3g, ok-good camera,Good memory at least 1gb, Stick.
added features like gps & wifi(if present then good)...!
Btw, does any1 has any view & experience about "dopod" windows mobile?

Hi freworld4u,
For that price,hmmm....
As i told u on our meet,i know only about SE phones.
In SE phones,Wifi are available in select models like P990,P1i and W960(these are the smartphones-all have 3g,ok-good cam,wifi,1gb stick compatible/come free/has 8gb inbuilt).But all these cost 20k+
For GPS,SE has not implemented inside phone GPS...but just released a GPS receiver attached to a headphone which can be bought separately and attached to the phones(do check which phones are compatible) for GPS use.
If u can forgo wifi,About the other features like 3g(almost all new SE phones are 3g),ok-good camera(go for a SE camera WITH autofocus-u won't regret) and memory stick of 1gb(now given free with many models also its price now is 700bucks-grey)...lots of models are available but i would suggest K790/800 (14k ) or k810(18-19k)

btw what abt HTC TYTN, DO u hav some info abt it actual cost (White & latest)?

@freworld... HTC has taken over dopod so all dopod products are HTC branded now...For your needs, you can try Htc touch which comes with 1gb memory card & wifi. The camera is 2mp without autofocus & it runs Windows mobile 6 (no gps). I got it in August for Rs 19900 locked to airtel...i believe unlocked versions are also available now...
Or, you could go for HTC P3300 which has all the features of the touch & has inbuilt gps. It comes with WM 5 but i read somewhere that htc has released a free wm6 upgrade for its e-club members. Price is around 22k i think.

So HTC touch IS ALSO A GOOD OPTION NOW.
Actually frankly speaking. i hav got so much involved and used to symbain os that i sometimes fear moving to windows mobil os or palm platform.
One mainly thinks about various types of software availability for windows os??
then, abt whether those application will work properly or as per requirement.
then, ONE OF the main thing , WHETHER their gprs , bt etc will be able to be tweaked etc etc as i dont knw abt them.
MAy be some bdy who has dealt closely with symbian and windows mobile os will be able to tell it better.
may be masseur?
And as far as SE world is concerned similar software availability haunts me,,
can someone elaborate on tat as i hav seen many software apps not working on se ( they hav even different format of files and sis dont work on thm , may be uiq stuff ) and even some Java apps. !!

@freworld...software availability will not be a problem as there are a plethora of applications available for windows mobile pocket pcs-both paid & freeware...java applications are also supported...i couldn't understand what u meant by 'tweaking gprs & bt'...but they seem to work pretty ok... & so does push email over activesync using exchange server...the processor is a tad slow @ 200mhz but is ok for everyday use...it can be overclocked if required...

first nokia thing in dat budget that comes into my mind is NOKIA N72,, goin by the features required.
one f my friend got dat in close to 9K+

to my surprise INDIAGSM IS showing less prices Comparatively?

Sometimes IndiaGSM is ahead and sometimes Univercell... But I prefer IndiaGSM's prices as they are more accurate whereas Univercell has inflated prices cause they are selling phones as well, so to make more profit... | |
