Hello all, i have this same doubt between SE k700i and nokia 6600, i've read the major opinions, but i want u guys, that know about this stuff, to tell me something..
Is k7's screen really bigger than 6600's one? Because, in all sites i read that SE has 176x220 and Nokia 176x208, but seeing this picture, http://www.mobile88.com/gen/photos/sonyericsson/k700/k700i_a.jpg , i got confused. Can anyone answer me? |

haha... in response to the question of the thread. I would choose the 6600, purely for the MMC capability. If i was going for size and tyle it would be the K700!

I guess the 'only' advantage of the Nokia 6600 is it's - MMC, nothing else ! 41 MB of space will surely suffice even if you are an IMAGE or VIDEO - freak ! |

I don't think they are of the same level, but the Nokia would be a nice choice.
I think it comes down to whether you want to stick with or turn to the dark side
All the features are pretty similair to compare much!

176x220 vs 176x208 are the number of pixels of the screen - the resolution - not the physical size. The N6600 screen is physically bigger than the screen of the K700, but have fewer pixels (dots)
You can say that the K700 screen are sharper because it has a higher pixeldensity - it has more pixels on a smaller physical area.
Compare it with a computermonitor
You can have a 15" monitor with a resolution set at 1024x768 or you could have a 17" monitor with a resolution set at 800x600 |

@datx - Glad to have you on-board mate If the resolution is what you are asking here, I guess - NOT! The cam features of the K700i is at it's - BEST too. Having all those: sizes, color types, zooming effects etc. is all you would just be looking for a fone with a nice cam features - I guess |

no thats definately not true. The N6600 cam is a first generation VGA mobile cam and not especially good.
under good lightingconditions (outdoors, sunny) - the k700 propably has the best VGA cam of all mobile VGA cams - but under poor lightingconditions (indoors, lowlight) its not good - N6230 for instance handles lowlight pictures better. Mobile VGA cams are not very advanced and lack the possibility to adjust properly for different conditions. From the manufacturer it can be adjusted to perform equally good (or equally bad - depends on how you look at it) under most normal conditions, but then it wont perform max under any condition. Or the manufacturer can adjust it to perform as good as possible under a specific condition - but then it wont perform as good under other conditions. The K700 is adjusted to perform under best possible conditions - thus being one of the best under these conditions - but not as good under less conditions.
Hope it makes any sence.
Under any circumstances - VGA mobile cams - are only VGA mobile cams - so dont expect miracles
here are some examples of pictures Ive taken with the K700

@therealspawn - You mean the image resolution of the Nokia 6600 is BETTER than that of the K700i mate . . . But cam-features wise, I guess that of the K7 is a stand-out ! |

The k7's camera is definately a better vga camera plus the panaroma option is great+unlimited video recordin. The advantage of the 6600 however are expandable memory and mmc slot(which might be very imp for some) but its big ang bulky(at around 130gm) and not really usable with one hand, screen quality is nowhere near that of k7, very sluggish once you load software, quite unstable(2 of my mates experience frequent hangups and crashes), bad sound and cant be used as bluetooth remote. Also it aint a se and blokia sucks(yup nokia hater here) Priced almost the same as k7 btw. |

No I dont
resolution of K700 screen is 176x220 pixels
resolution of N6600 screen is 176x208 pixels
Resolution of the screen is better on K700 - but the screen itself is bigger on the N6600

I'm not sure about you, but any decision you have to make between Sony and any other company, regardless of the product, is a decision based on what you value more, features or design.
Sony is a company that has always prioritised the looks of its products over the actual functions and features, so if the design of a phone is important to you, then se is for you. But if the features are more important, than Nokia is perhaps a better option.
I know some of you find Nokia's "beautiful" but they're really not, they're either... squarish ugly things, or have odd-shapes, particularly on the keypad. |
