My cousin has one and he wants it unlocked...i can do it with an unlocking calculator because it has the option to but my mate said you need to do it with cables.
Which is the right way?
Also is this a good phone because i may buy it if it is.

It is a good phone - I have one at the moment with a 3pay sim card. Whatever you do, DON'T get the E616 (without the 'v') as it is full of bugs. The e616v is much more stable (it has rebooted itself only twice on me in 3 or so weeks), as an excellent screen, a quality phone. It's rather bulky, but has a quality feel about it. The battery life is bad, but not as bad as some make it out to be, the larger, heavy duty 1800mAh battery lasts about 3 days, the 1100mAh one (both in the box with the phone) about 2.
I'm not really using my e616v, I have far too many mobiles at the moment (and a p900 on the way too - really must stop buying phones!!!) so I might be selling the NEC!

@sammyboy
can you write couple of words about the built in mp3 player in e616v, is it possible to play the music on the background and take pictures at the same time? what about the quality of the sound, do you get earphones in the box with the handset?
i was waiting to get the 7600 from cpw for more than a month but now i am really cosidering buying the e616v instead. the e338 is looking good as well but without an external lcd it looks a bit outdated, like the first clamshell motorolas 5 years ago. |

not an easy job, you need to get to the test points on the pcb, i suggest you give it a few months then try again!!
