And the first person to post the 3999th reply was not even a South African. What ever happened to BlueQuill...loved having him around.

@da wanqsta: I remember that lull, it felt like I was this thread was slowly dying. I suppose it happens when the conversation gets a bit stale.

@ da brixsta,
Almost inevitable if/ when there's less than a handful of people posting and representing this thread over a period, out of 30+ million cellphone users in SA. We've seen quite a few people come and go on this thread, and I know some people have valid reasons for not being able to contribute regularly, but it would truly be great to see less fly-by-nighters and forum one-night standers. People who share the same passion for what we have here.

This goes without saying really, but I know I (emphatically) do my bit, and more, to represent and assist not only this knowledgeable SA forum, but also my country, that I both miss and love.

Guys, the quickest way to get rid of anyone selling unwanted goods is to tell them u died! I've used it effectively before... Just play the part of grieving brother / sister.
@kryptik: glad u enjoyed the cheese and that u found the marriage certificate!

I hope to be around for a very long time. I am glad to have found this forum. I thought i would frequent howardforums a bit more, but that does not seem to be the case. Howardforums has no South African forum:)

And yeah, the w900i is a great phone. Time for my daily dose of Battlestar Galactica. I am running out of episodes:( at least the next season is at episode 4 this week. Now to get a hold of it...

Then they try to sell you life insurance? Not unless you tell them your 'brother' was murdered by dept collectors from some life insurance company...then im sure they should let it go. But once again, hellopeter is your friend. Go complain there, and someone will listen. They usually respond.

@da krypsta: Can't say I've seen it. Lots of funny ads on tv.
Been getting a pop-up message from my phone's anti-virus saying that my licence has expired...now it gives me an option to renew my licence. Question is: Should I even bother or just walk around without any protection.

PE internet fraud on the rise

Thu, 19 Oct 2006
Port Elizabeth has experienced a drastic increase in internet fraud with over R1-million stolen from private bank accounts in the past month, police said on Thursday.

The private details were recorded at internet cafes with "keylogging software" placed on computers, Superintendent Rhoda Rheeder of the police commercial branch told Sapa.

"It's a new type of crime with the software being used. It's definitely a problem," she said.

Ten cases had been reported, and syndicates were believed to be behind the theft. No arrests had been made.

The private information was later downloaded and funds transferred to fraudulent bank accounts and then withdrawn, police spokesperson Johann van Greunen said in a statement.

The police appealed to the public to use personal computers where possible and to be cautious when using public machines.

@Wanqa, i swear i know nothing about it, i wasn't anywhere near that internet cafe last Friday evening, it's true. He only LOOKED like me, like i told the nice detective lady

@Brix, i'm certain that you don't keep your blueteeth
turned on, thus it's probably not vital to have an anti-virus app running. It's good having it in place though, especially if you're into downloading... i'm certain that you know where to find em...

Thats the last of my worries, and my biggest concern when going smartphone. At least i will not have to worry about that for quite a while. Just have to be careful about those dodgy java apps that are going around, but my phone is highly fussy when it comes to accessing its features, highly annoying, but safe.

I dont do much internet banking, with the risks involved and all. Wish there was a foolproof way to be protected. I am surprised with all the expertise that there are still holes in the process. You should have two passwords, the second using something making the computer unable to store it. I would rather do the double password thing than be at risk.
