Thanks, Tsepz. Yeah I'm still faffing with it at the moment.
I'm not the world's biggest iTunes fan (although you can't really compare the dumbed-down version of iTunes for PC), so I'm checking out various Mac media players. VLC for Mac plays just about anything, although it's very bland IMHO. Pity no WinAmp, although it's apparently in beta phase..)
I'm using the new 'Lion' version of OS X and it'll take a while to 'think in Mac' and somehow get out of Windows' methodology when using it, after 20-odd years of constant PC...

Hey Hobbster,
I hope you never had tickets for the cricket this weekend, boet.. game, set and match in 3 utterly surreal days of test cricket! What an incredible test match!

Ive just tried that app, very nice, 170 does seem to be the sweet spot especialy in the lockscreen, only issue is that the icons in the notificatin bar end up overlapping each other, hopefuly thats fixed in future updates of the app, otherwise realy nice.

i think i will, Androids realy are made for people with 12month contracts, this would've been so much easier if i was on one of those instead of 24months. Think it will be better to get a droid with ICS already in it to.

congratulations on the apple mac.they are awesome and if they were'nt so pricey i'd most probably be sitting with one myself.

Thanks H.
The one I got is nothing mind-blowing; it's the Mac Mini (I'm thus using my monitor and peripherals from my PC at the mo), similar to the one I bought the better half a year or so ago. Uses the Intel i5 processor, 500GB HD etc. Not terabyte territory like Windows 7 offerings for the same money, but enough for me and I have an external HD if necessary.
Macs are a lot less RAM hungry than Windows and it's amazing how such a small 'base unit' doesn't generate heat like small-form PC's and laptops. It's absolutely quiet as well.
Gotta say that I do miss the folder functions that Windows offers. It's only Day 2 of life with Mac for me, and therefore it seems that a lot isn't as intuitive as Windows, but that's maybe more me getting my thick head around the OS. I'll keep bugging the mrs when I get 'stuck'..

Another bummer with the 2011 Mac Mini models: no integrated CD/DVD drive, so I bought an external Samsung Blu-Ray Reader-DVD Reader/Writer to go with it. I was a bit miffed with this move by Apple; maybe it's a move to get people to rely more on iCloud. Saak that. The wife's Mac Mini (2010 model) has one integrated, so I doubt it's a space issue. But hey, what do I know, LOL. I'll run a HDMI cable from the Mac to the TV soon. Oh yeah, yet another thing, Apple don't readily support Blu-Ray, so I had to google and download a program to make things work for Mac.

Price-wise, the Mac Mini prices aren't too different to what you pay in SA, judging from that website. Apple do standardise prices strictly here, so there's no negotiating or fluctuating of prices here on Apple products as such. If there is, it's pretty marginal and it looks to be similar there. Need to check some of those laptop prices though; some of those Macbook prices look like more than marginal in difference...

I like Windows 7 as well and both operating systems offer so much, but right now I'm looking forward to emerging myself in Lion OS X.

You're right, Hobbster. 2GB of RAM, which (for Mac) is sufficient. It can be expanded to a max of 4GB though, if need be. Dunno if I'll have my head around it all by the end of this weekend, in fact I reckon it'll take me a good while longer to really get to know the system properly, but one day at a time.

Dang Hobbster. Can Shoda pick up satellite transmissions with that dish?
Seriously though, hopefully the stitches will heal up soon.

WRT the Mac, ya I've been pestering the better half with how to do this n' that on this OS. Mac can run Windows on it as well, so I might install it if needed and it's easy enough to switch between the 2 OS's on a Mac. We'll see.

wangs she removed 3 stitches 2 days after the op and the wound opened when she just had the foam collar on.It was to small and shes quite agile so she managed to twist and get to them.that why we had to get the satellite dish.shes only 1 and a bit now so shes healing fast.cant wait to get her back in the mountains or on the beach.

Congrats on the Mac boet

Only good times await you now...

Tsepz

What ever you do, do not get a BB, there's absolutely no BB worth getting, they have nothing going for them except BBM.

I freaken hate BB. As things stand, I'm still pretty much in love with the Arc and seems like it might be the last worthy SE phone. Can't wait to see what Sony has in store though...

Oh, and yes, get the mac bro!

Hobbs

Wishing your doggy a speedy recovery.

Looking at the picture reminds me of a dog movie I watched the other day, "Hachiko", pretty cool movie about the true story of a super loyal dog.

Yep, i noticed new shortcuts and the Zoopy box, lol, 1st thing i did was shake my head, Androids are weird devices they literaly do their own thing, multiple times ive caught GMaps updating itself, got an email yday that Latitude was tracking my location without me having touched it and i see Android Market got a little update to makes me wonder what more is happening that i havent picked up on.

Gola

Same bro, i hate them, awful little overpriced and outdated things, but its tempting to get one just for BBM, wont waste my contract upgrade on them though.
Awesome, think il also get a Mac next time, maybe mid next year, i only use my laptop for uni assignments and back up so im not in a rush to replace it, but wow, Windows is a b*$ch to work with sometimes, the few times i use my laptop i dread using Windows.

All
So my mates Camaro has arrived, absolute beaut of a thing, the wheels standard are 20inch, and it drives well, handles corners well for a muscle car, and sounds amazing, its having some transmission issues though so we taking it back tomorrow, its attracted a lot of attention where ever we go, it just sticks out so well, and theres no ignoring its size, its around the same size as a Jag XF despite being 2-door, what a machine though, heres a pic i took this morning:
