* deleted the post as it was not accurate anymore and I can not tell for sure which system SEUS uses to determine if you can or can not upgrade.

Funny inside the SE US log the application version changed from 1.30 to 1.34... from this morning to this afternoon... it didn't affect my phone being able to use it... anyone else noticed that?

Hey folks,
I have R2C Firmware currently, wanting to upgrade... The Update Service is reporting that my device is not permitted to use the service?
Orange UK - CDA102298/22 R26A

All I know that it means that you can use SE US... Correct?
It is just a customization number that is used to identify your software to Update Service...

Hi again guys and gals,
I just thought I'd add another post on here FYI regarding the development of the "Rob can't flash it" story...
I'll be honest with you, when I couldn't flash the phone I got the hump... Not only because I wanted to effect the bug fixes I've mentioned in previous posts, but also because I'm a %£(!$(% technician, working in PC Specification Design and Research & Development - so it's in my nature to want to fiddle with things, and where possible, rewrite a flash-ROM along the way
So, after having read quite a few threads on here about other peoples' experience with the SE-US, including accounts of success and prohibition from users of all the main UK networks; I figured it was worth a call to SE Customer Services to find out if there was any particular reason I was unable to flash my handset last night...
I couldn't beleive what I was told... it went something like this... "Ahh, well from memory, I think only O2 customers can use the update-site actually..." I then mentioned that I'd read a good few success-stories from Orange users on here, and countless failures from O2 users. SE-girl then said "Well I'll just double-check, I'll pop you on hold for one minute..." (terrible hold-music) "Yes sir, only O2 customers can use the update-site, all the other networks here in the UK have opted-out. (waffle about my nearest service-centre being able to do the job)" -of course there's not really much chance of me being able to travel the considerable distance to the service centre at any time of the day/week that there'll be someone there.
So I'm a little confused, was SE-girl on the blatent-BS mission, and did she put me on hold to play with her nails, or muse to a colleague "I've got another %*£)$£ on the line nagging about software and updates and %£$^, I wish they didn't call"....or are all the Orange users of Esato who've flashed extremely lucky (get down to a shop and pick some lotto numbers guys!) - and all the O2 users who've had trouble the unluckiest bunch on the planet (get down to a shop and pick an insurance-policy guys!)???
I started off not being really bothered about it all, but I'm tempted to make it my mission to find the truth...
Anyway, take it easy all, and be-lucky!
Regards,
Rob.
