(from http://www.clubsonyericsson.com) Although many people —including Sony Ericsson customers— has adopted the "SonyStyle" philosophy of owning products with Memory Stick slots to avoid incompatibilities and live more comfortably with friendly and stylish gadgets, it's undeniable that everybody would live happier with just one standard memory card format. Even more undeniable is Sony Ericsson and Sony's unconditional support for their proprietary card format, the Memory Stick family. However today SE (not Sony) suddenly joined the SD Card Association . No comment. Well YES comment. Read the press release and judge for yourself, but the feeling I get is that I now can't help thinking in a future Sony Ericsson phone with SD or MiniSD slot instead of MS Duo...

hmmmm. Interesting. Lets see where this leads. If they only joined yesterday (25th) then I could be a while before we see an SD slot on an phone.

Ha, Ha nothing.

I do not care what they release it with or the price. If I want it I will buy it. Full stop.

SD, or Mem Stick. To me it does not matter, nor the price. Just make great phones.

While we are on it. Can someone explain to me why is having a Memory Stick Duo Pro more desireable that having a simple MS Duo? I have read the specs and from what I gather the only advantage in regards to the s700 would be the larger capacity. Nothing more. The phone does not support the higher speeds nor does it require it. I can see having a larger size to support more music or photos, but I can not come to grips with the idea of wanting to watch videos on my phone. Please all of you MS Duo Pro wanters explain the advantage. I just do not see it.

it very well could be. maybe se have twig on that most mid range phones been released now and in the future will have external memory and most of the other companies use this form. so if your after other peoples customers you can at least offer then compatablity on something from the start ie they dont have to buy new card and reload there music movies games etc

You're really jealous aren't you?
After starting a thread complaining about the price (and suddenly the S700i is a piece of sh*t for you)

I don't care about SD's! By the time, and if, start using them i'm already buying a new phone.

It's not as if the next phones will immediately support SD's imho... might take up to a year before we see any I'm afraid.
