still waiting for mine, won't get it until next week but you'd have to assume the screen is strong enough since its designed to be used single handed without the stylus, though I expect I will use the stylus more than my fingers.

which to get really comes down to whether you want a silghtly larger (width only) device with full pocketpc software (including pocket excel and word), a bigger screen and no real keypad, browsing ni portrait or landscape mode (indeed anything you like in landscape mode as it is now supported natively) etc etc or whether you want real keys and a slightly cut down version of pocketpc (windows mobile) for smartphones and are happy with the smaller screen (albeit same resolution as K700, V800 etc though slightly larger phsically than those)

basic specs for comparison

SP3i
107.5mm(L) x 44.5mm(W) x 18mm(T)
screen 2.2 inch, 176x220 pixels
32mb ram
mini SD under battery
VGA camera

Jam
108mm(L) x 58mm(W) x 18.1mm(T)
2.8 inch, 240X320 pixels
64mb ram
SD with full external access for hot swap
1.3 megapixel camera

for me I know I'll be dumping the SP3i for the Jam

No comparison IMHO....the Jam looks fantastic, but if you wanted those features with a keyboard, you'd surely be looking at the i-mate PDA2K (aka T-Mobile MDA III) rather than an SP3i, though I guess there's a fairly substantial price difference!

not to mention size difference

125mm (H) X 71.6mm(W) X 18.7mm (T)

the PDA2K is more like iPAQ size and has a 3.5 inch and can't really compare with the SP3i and Jam size wise

if I was going to get something that big I'd be getting the 6000 series iPAQ

Let me get this straight

Better Camera (The same ok)
Touch Screen
Better OS
More Features

And CHEAPER than the S700

OK.

Its official SE's overprices phones SUCK.

the Jam camera isn't as good as the S700. Although its same resolution its still only CMOS compared with CCD in the S700

S700 has never tempted me, even with the post yesterday that it can be had for free on a 30 pound/mth contract

I'd be comparing the Jam to the P series rather than the S700 as its a smartphone with the same extensibility that the P series has but with much tighter windows integration regarding sync capability etc.

But hats to be expected when both sides of the cable are microsoft

i have thru a treo 600 , Se k700i, thr original imate smartphone.. all have their ups and downs.. but active sync wa alwasy a problem with the treo and and original SP. K700i is a fantastic phone. good video playback... but i am icking for something better now... Jam seems like a reasonable choice. but lack pf the keyboard seems to hold me back. the pda2k is a bit hefty....
do u think the jam will have similar BLuetooth problems that was mentioned for the sp3i ?

But also the different OS's makes it hard to compare the Symbian and Pocket PC thing,

But I was just clarifying that A NON SMART PHONE costs more than a Smart Phone which has almost all the features and more.

totally agree with u on the S700 issue... i think it should have been the same price range as a nokia 7610. then it would be great phone..... i have seen it... sort of like a souped up k700i thast all.....

and I agree 100%. I think we've established that the S700 is way overpriced in quite a few threads including the main one by vanquish. Its most of the reason why I didn't buy it and now am looking elsewhere away from for new phones to play with.

Actually its now 3 weeks since I last used any phone so I hope that the new year brings something new and exciting from but in the meantime the V3 and this Jam should keep me happy!

i would say the i-mate jam, obviously it has a windows media player and all but apparently the battery life on the JAM is amazing, if you have read the review of bengalboy he will tell you how long he was playing around with the media until the battery ran out COOL and plus there are alot of software for the JAM and you can get wifi if your into those things but at the end of the day the battery performance is just awearsome, plus you can get 2gig sd card for the JAM which you can so much mp3 and vedio clips and can convert dvd to win media player compressed with good quality sound and pic. you can have all that in one 2gig sd card so which one do you think?
