Hi all.
Does anybody have any news or insider knowledge as to when the i-mate (SPV M500) will be available on Orange UK?
Thanks. |

i-mate have posted a new firmware today

This page contains the latest Operating Systems for the i-mate™ JAM device. Future releases of the software will be posted on this page for i-mate™ customers, so keep it bookmarked!
We currently have the following ROM images available and may be used to upgrade earlier devices. All languages will soon be available as:
Rom version 1.11.00
Radio version 1.11.00
(New!) ExtROM version 1.11.132 (WWE)
(New!) ExtROM version 1.11.183 (Arabic)
(New!) ExtROM version 1.11.169 (North American 850-only model)
(New!) ExtROM version 1.11.179 (UK)
(New!) ExtROM version 1.11.182 (French)
Fixes:
ROM builds with radio versions 1.05.00 and 1.10.00 all include audio enhancements for voice calls. Radio build 1.11.00 includes improved support for Cell Broadcast and SIM Toolkit applications.
All new builds contain the improved camera driver and fix for "No Bluetooth Hardware" bug. ROM builds 1.11.00 also includes a new MMS client for improved network compatability and an upgrade to the Operating System.
The North American 850 build includes support for more T-Mobile SIM subscriptions. These settings are all available as separate operator CAB settings files for download from this site.

there is another firmware update available for the i-mate jam taking it to
Rom version 1.12.00
Radio version 1.12.10
you'll need to be a club i-mate member then just go here
Fixes:
ROM builds with radio versions 1.05.00 and 1.10.00 all include audio enhancements for voice calls. Radio build 1.11.00 includes improved support for Cell Broadcast and SIM Toolkit applications. With radio 1.12.10 we have improved the settings for the echo cancellation to remove the phenomenon of "double talk", where a person calling a JAM customer will experience a minor echo if the other person is also talking at the same time.
All new builds contain the improved camera driver and fix for "No Bluetooth Hardware" bug. ROM builds 1.11.00 also includes a new MMS client for improved network compatability and an upgrade to the Operating System. 1.12.00 ROM builds should also reduce the "Cannot Connect" problem experienced by some customers.
...don't you love it when a company provides a firmware upgrade and actually tells you what it fixed

HELP!!! Just acquired a Jam last week. I can't find the GPRS data counter... how do I monitor GPRS costs without a data counter? Any application to solve this problem? |

SPV M500 is out I see, any thoughts? OSPS have it for free on a 20 pound a month contract which seems about as cheap as it's going to get, do you think it's too late to jump on the Jam bandwagon?

I got mine on wednesday... What can I say. Its awesome.
Using my P900 seems slow as hell now, and the video playback on the M500 (using betaplayer) is mind blowing. 320x240 at 25fps looks crystal, it blows any other phone ive seen away.
Its built 5 times better than my P900 too, no creaks at all, no light leaking out around the display. And the whole front face is gunmetal finish, erm.. metal.
Its a bit more fiddly, but totally worth it. I never use the stylus anyway. Ever. |

That's encouraging, my P900 is kind of on the way out ('0' and 'ok' don't work on the keypad and it doesn't charge properly) and I've not been impressed with other smartphones, been using an SPV C500 and 6630 for six months or so, both have nice hardware but they're lacking in their OS, especially compared to the P900.
Thing is, I'm not due an upgrade until the end of the year, so it would mean taking out a fourth contract to get the phone although 250 pounds is a bargain price for it...
