tiz kind of phones are really for people, like my dad who juz wants to be able to call/receive/send calls&sms, and a bit of simple design... I muz say its aint my kind of thing... but its all gd... however they cud hv implemented a camera... atleast a low quality ones... coz people now days they juz see a camera phone they wud buy it... |

I think the whole idea behind them is to NOT have a camera. And remember, the world is in fact full of people who want a phone, with SMS and nothing else. A acmera on these two wold drive the price up and basically make it less appealing to the market it is intended at.
I don't know why ppl fail to see what 'low end phone' really means and for which users it is intended.
I think it's great  is expanding it's range

i would understand if you said that s700 sucks ass as a multimedia device as you can't get a ms duo bigger than 128 mb for audio purposes and you can't have fullscreen videos but i really can't see how can "these two suck ass" if they are low end phones for mass production....
btw: i think s700 is a great phone so that we don't go offtopic here... |

the t290 isnt so great except for body color. the 230 has 1,1mb memory. and it deperately needs ir. speaker phone is nothing great imo. |

T290 love it. love the color (except the white version) its a phone thats very good, reliable, and it sold great. very good job SE.
J200 oh boy. this phone is probably made by ARIMA (T100/T105/Z200) thats why it has no MMS. this is the most ugly phone SE has ever build. it looks alot like a SIEMENS phone. will it sell? some shopkeepers already mailed me to know more about it. so i think it will sell. since all new siemens phones have got problems. this model could take over abit of siemens low end sales. so thats good. but i still hate the design and the lack of MMS is just plain stupid.
i'll probably get the T290 when its 100euro, a good phone for my mum.

Nobody has yet to confirm that the J200i will be available in Europe? Why doesnt SE make it clear if it will be available or not?
EDIT: Mobil.se, a swedish mobile site, has only reported the t290 as being unveiled, adding more uncertainty to the availability of the J200 in europe

From the SE press release:
"The first of these phones, the J200, is targeted mainly at the China and Asia Pacific markets and will be available during the last quarter of 2004. The second, the T290, will be launched in the same region early in 2005, in time for the traditional gift giving of the Chinese New Year, and then be available globally during the first quarter. "
...and for the records, Z200 and J200 runs on the very same hardware... |

I think that leaving out MMS is logical.
I see ppl with cameraphones but never hear of someone actually sending pictures through mms.

wasn't the T230 which was designt by arima ?
so i guess that bove phones are arima phones and that the se internal development parts are more focused on the middle to high -end markt |

Anyways who says 'low end phones' doesnt need a camera...??? Does it state anyway?? maybe ur failing to see wat really meant by 'low end phones.' Now days 'low end phones' cud be considered phones without external memory... phones tat doesnt hv coloured screens... or phones with mono ringtones... so wat is 'low end phones' right now... tat is question.... |

T230 isn't made by Arima.
it was designed and created by SE's R&D center in the US. they also created the Z500 which is made on the looks of the Z200 by Arima.
MMS isn't just a software thing actually. remember T68m - T68i.
i think Arima doesn't have a licence for it.
