Have neither owned nor used a 7610 I can't offer an opinion on it, but I do have a K700 and I would recommend it to anyone. I have not been disappointed with the K700 in the slightest, excellent mobile.

what sort of things are you looking for in your next mobile. this will help people to give you better answers
if you are after a mobile that can play some mp3s the k700 will win as long as you dont want to put on more than 5-6.
if you want to watch films and stuff the nokia is far better for this as it has a memory slot and you can get a film or 2 onto a memory card something you wouldnt be able to do on the k700
also will you be wanting third party apps as the nokia is better at this as its symbian based
as i say give us some ideas and we will try to point you in the right direction

@slattery69

Five or six mp3s? If the average mp3 was around the 3 MB mark then one would be able to squeeze in a few more.

fair point but i am working on the assumption people will have other stuff on not just mp3 ie games apps photos vids they have filmed etc.
if not then yes you can fit more on. as to how many before you slow the phone down i dont know.

@Wirral Bagpuss

I believe the standard method of assessing mobile gayness is to put one's mobile in a closet and see if it falls out.

That shoulnd't even be considered as an argument but still you can do so if you really can stand out with the crappy image quality and sound quality. I would never use a phone for that purpose but I can only speak for myself.

For music purpose, K700i is the better choice but if you are an advance user, 7610 is the choice for you.

@McKinley

If the choice is between these two products alone and the chap does want the ability to watch lengthy video clips on his mobile then I consider it very much a valid point.

@mckinley
the quality of the audio isnt the best i agree but the quality of the video on the screen can be very good for a mobile.
i have encoded several films and tv shows for my nokia 6600 and all have been more than impressive in the video department. perhaps if you have problems with it you should learn to encode and you may see benefits. same goes for the k700 which could certainly take a couple of episode of say the simpsons and look excellent for a mobile phone

I was always rather pleased with the quality of playback on my P900.
