I need to get a DSS-20 or a DSS-25 some that I can update my k700i, as my vodafone shop (bullring, birmingham) say that they can't update the phone and i should do it myself. So which is best the DSS-20 or the DSS-25 and where is the cheapest place to buy them from as the vodafone shop sold them for £80 and my budget just doesn't stretch that far.

Same site DSS-25

http://www.i2020.co.uk/advanc[....]lt.php?keywords=dss-25&x=8&y=6

£16.45

http://www.directmobileaccess[....]duct_info.php?products_id=1049

£16.89.

Don't think there's a lot of difference between the two really, I know that you can plug your charger into the DSS-25 which is pretty usefull ,can't comment on the DSS-20, sony say you can use either so I would let the price make the decision for me.

I have just borrowed my mates Dss-25 to do the firmware update and it worked fine.

I spoke to SE customer service today and they advised me that there was no was you could use a sync station (dss-25) to update a K77i. The customer service person emphatically stated that it could be done with a DCU-11 cable !!. I queried the instructuions on the SE update website and was advised this was a "huge error". Any suggestions ??

THis is the corrected version!!

Don't know about DSS-25, but i think it's the same thing as DSS-20.

When you check Windows device manager.
DSS-20 is represented as USB cable DCU-11.

So the guy was completely wrong! [addsig]

Only suggestion is that the SE-guy should seek employment elsewhere, because he is crammed full of horse-manure.
I have personally updated two K700i´s via internet using DSS-25 from P900 box and i think the amount of people here at this forum who have done the same pretty much rests this case.
What a numbnut!! (Not you, the SE-guy)

Game on !

Just remember that if you have any problems during the the update it's more than likely your firewall. I had to turn mine off.

I did a full scan using spybot, adaware and nortons after I finished to make sure that nothing came down whilst the firewall was off and no problems were found

Seems the guys at sony are talking out of their battys !
