Hello,

I am trying the same thing with YAHOO and HOTMAIL from Belgium, Proximus(operator).

I called the helpdesk of Proximus and
1. They don't understand what I am speaking about POP3 on My gsm ! LOL
2. They said that the POP3 via GPRS don't work.

Me, when I am trying, I always have the same message: Server not found

I am trying to contact Mobistar, the other big operator here in Belgium for more informations... I will post the result !

If you have more informations, I am interesting...

I found out there is no need to phone Proximus or Mobistar on these "complicated" subjects
(You could as well ask my 5 jear old kids
is the answer you will get in both cases)

First try to put in the IP adress and not the name.
this already helps a lot in most cases.

I didn't think that Hotmail supported pop3 email, and also that only yahoo.com (US yahoo) supports pop3, none of the others. I think that you can access them both on wap. If they do work with pop3, I'd be interested to know.

Hello,

For Hotmail, I hate it now. I was using it in the past. So I don't know if there is POP3.

For Yahoo, (I love it), there is a wap site in english and an other one in french.
I use it(french) via my wap(gprs) and it work VERY fine. A lot of options...
But, what I am trying is to use it via POP3.
And there, that don't work.

hello Brisefer

Yes I use Pop3 but via a freemail account and via Mobistar. This works very good and has an advantage:

You can apply filters and do not download thinks you do not want or need. -)

By freemail I mean as example www.gmx.net

have a look at http://www36.gmx.net/de/cgi/login

POP3-Server: pop.gmx.net
Mail-Server or SMTP-Server: mail.gmx.net

Give it a try and tell me if there are problems

Hello,

Ok, I tested GMX.
But it's just a Freemail account like Yahoo.

I prefer 1000x Yahoo. But it's a choice.

I have the same error message with GMX.
The Freemail account is not the problem. The problem is with the operator. It seems that Proximus don't accept POP3 via GPRS. And if POP3 work fine on your phone with GMX, it's MOBISTAR who accept POP3.

Could you please test with a yahoo account?
http://www.yahoo.fr or
yahoo.com

And what (humm abonnement?) do you have with mobistar ? How do you pay for GPRS ?

Thanks in advance,
Brisefer

I will give yahoo a try if i find time and for the subscription to Mobistar I have

an ordanary account with multinumbering (Voice, Fax and data Nr on the SIM card) and I am currently negotiating with them for GPRS

They want 90 € a month including 50 MB
I offer 9 € including 5 MB

lets see
