Hi,

just a quick question, i want to listen to a few songs whilst i walk to work, only be like a 15 min walk so don't need like 3000 songs or anything...

what is the best method, still using OGG player or is the P910 mp3 player just as good / better now ?

thanks

the only reason for using ogg was because it allowed smaller file sizes with relativley same sound quality. I still use ogg player because file sizes are smaller and the UI of the ogg player is better and looks cooler with all the skins that are availble for it. No one seems to bother making them theese days.

So just to make sure you understand use which ever player you prefer i prefer ogg due to bettr UI and smaller file sizes. The music reproduction is dependant on the file type and format not on the players.

The music player is quite good but not the best.
It's the same as it was in P900 but both are much better than the P800s.
I find no need to use a 3rd party player

OggPlay For P800/P900/P910

Download V1.0 and V1.1

Install and run V1.0 this puts folders onto your phone that was omited from V1.1

Install V1.1 over V1.0

The music player that came with the phone is a good option. Just upload a few tunes and listen to them whilst walking to work. Simple and straight forward.

download dbpoweramp at http://www.dbpoweramp.com and make sure you also download the ogg vorbis codecs.

for ogg files on your phone, set the bitrate at 48 or 64kbps. sounds just as good as mp3's at 128kbps and compresses the file to a third of the size of an mp3 file. so you can effectively store 3x as many songs on your phone.

you can experiment with the bitrate but i personally use 48kbps and the sound is crystal clear.

one last thing because you will surely post a question about this, when you transfer the files to your phone, you will not be allowed to transfer them to your audio folder. therefore, transfer them to the documents folder. when you start up the ogg player, have it scan for files. once it finds them, you're all set.

Get the Codecs here:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm

I'm sure everyone could have found it but it'll probably save someone asking anyway!
