Yes, we've all whinged about how crappy the headsets are. If SE are serious about making these phones media centers, they need to give users options for connectivity.
For me, the following accessory would be a killer SE accessory.
It's taken from my Sony CLIE NR70V which has an its own mp3/media player. The buttons can be used to scroll thru the playlist, or for accepting calls. The 3.5mm plug is used for your quality Sony in-ear bud phones. And the clip keeps everything tidy. Something like this would be easy to produce, even for a third-party OEM (if they drop the device specific media buttons).
So, come on SE... get your damn act together!! |

Its a great idea being able to use our own headphones.

I use this one:

It doesn't have media buttons, but at least it let me use my regular headphones on my P910i |

Nah man... that accessory will only work on a Pxx0...
I was thinking more along the lines of the current handsfree, so that the end of the cable connects to the data bus at the bottom of the handset. This way, you can use it with any SE handset, not just the ones with 2.5mm jacks.
It would be cool, I cant believe *why* no-one has thought of this before. It's beyond me!!
I might have buy a spare handsfree and make my own!! |

Same here.. I've got decent sony silicon in ear-buds. But I cant use the damn things.
Also, does anyone know the SE order code for the Stereo earphones that came with the K700?? I cant seem to find them at any store, or online anywhere.
I need the stereo ones because I think they contain some circuitry for the extra earphone, as the pinouts are identical on the single (t68) and dual (k700) handfree.
I'll then be able mod the innards!

It's the HPM-20. I could find it on the dutch SE page:

Hope you can find it as well. |

hpm-20 uses a port designed for the older phones (K700 below)
for phones using FastPort (K750, etc.) you can use HPM-70
i believe it uses a mini jack so that you can replace the supplied headset with whatever you like.

I hope they'll be available to buy from SE and not just packaged with the W800i.
EDIT: they're on the SE website !
But not available to buy yet.

I might buy me a hpm-70 and hack my K700i stereo HF plug onto the end in place of the fast port plug. Then I can finally plug my phone into the fm modulator in the car... |
