Anybody know what the price is going to be like? I'm guessing it will be more than the K700 but quite a lot less than the S700. |

I hope Samsung's IR is useful for sharing this time - in their previous models, IR are practically useless, IMO. I'm also not so sure about their bluetooth implementation as this is probably their first commercial model with a BT. I also think 80MB is not enough for a 1.3MP camera with MP3 player. If this was released during the time K700 was released, I would have chosen this one over the K700 though.
It seems like D710 that they announced last year will never get released after all. Bad Samsung!

Samsung does not have infrared, bluetooth is probably not gonna be good as its their first time, phone's usability is limited due to non-expandable memory, camera quality inferior in samsung due to cmos sensor, dont know bout the samsung's screen, samsung will def have better sound. In samsung phones downloaded pics n tones cannot be sent in mms...dunno if this prob still exists. But the s700 is highly overpriced n that should go in samsung's favour...also it is smaller!

If only the price of s700 drops then it will crush the competition. Btw samsung have bigger things at hand...gonna introduce a 3mp camera phone with a hard disk drive.

hi y'all
i've had the s700 and tried out the d500 intensively and have to say that both phones are really very good BUT...
1) the s700 does have a better camera (though the d500 has better lighting inside - there, the s700 isn't really good)
2) the s700 is a different class phone ... s700 costs €800 and the d500 will be at ~€549 (like the k700)
3) then, having the fact that the d500 will be the same price range as k700 makes the d500 the better phone! its smaller (though a bit thicker) than the k700, has a worse display (resolutionwise) but has good functionality. the menu system is muuuuch better as before, the sample i had had full bluetooth support (for example: we hooked up a car-100 ... it didn't work but it still showed a serial connection, which is better than nokia ) & sending pictures wasn't a problem neither.
even though i'm a real se fan i have to admit the d500 wins against the k700 and is a noselength in front of the s700...
cheers, mike |

if bluetooth is good then who needs IR anyway. The radio, well I don't use my K700's radio that often so, not much of a problem. I hope it gets released here. I love my SE but I want to remain open minded.

Ok, for you who wonder what kind of BT it has, this one has the very same kind of BT as Sony Ericsson and Nokia which allow you to send things to other handsets. This is not a crippled BT, it is a fully working BT.
Regarding CMOS and CCD sensor. CCD wins, we all know that but most of us really don't know why it wins. I would say this is all matter of taste. CCD produce sharper images and along with that comes often cold colours, particularly to mobile phones while CMOS produce softer images with warmer colour. I think this one will outsell everything in the same class. No NOokia for masses with their stupid mobile phones which even don't have any display at 176x220 and their low quality CMOS sensors.
Once the price drop to normal level for S700 we will have two great choices but I know which one I would pick if it wasn't because I already own that one.
As TheRealSpawn already has said, S700i has the upper hand here and consider those factors he mentioned. I don't think you will think so much if the price were the same. |
