UPDATE!!

New software update to Total Multiserver V1.23

Load the app and press INFO to update..

this new update allows you to download the firmware through the app itself

I have been reliably informed an update will be out next week to fully support the SyncStations

I have purchased 100 credits in bulk, and I'm selling them individually for six quid each. I take PayPal.

PM me if you need one...

I just tested an o2 phone with the online update service (that I decustomized and upgraded with MultiServer a few days ago). It updated the phone, TO R2L001 (same version that was already on there). It didn't give me any warning that I was at the latest firmware, so I'm not sure what's up.

When I turned the phone on, all of my files/settings/etc were intact, as if I never touched the phone.

I checked EMMA's firmware listing, and it shows a K700 file with "R2M" in the name, but it is really R2L001 (flashed it to the phone to verify).

Weird...

Update!!

If you get the latest version of the Total Multiserver (1.24) which downloads automatically when you press the Info button, it lets you download the firmware files you need without using your credit. Read the website instructions very carefully and make sure you get compatible files. For a UK Vodafone K700i, I got K700_EU5.K7L (language file), K700_EU5_R2L001.K7C (customisation) and
K700_Firmware_Zone_1.K7s (firmware) plus of course the decustomisation file. A word of advice tho, its probably best to save your contacts to the SIM or you might lose them in the process. Now, which MP3 shall I use for a ringtone.....hmmmmmm.....

can someone summarise this firmware updating method with url's to correct software versions/required hardware etc.. the thread has fragmented a bit,

is this a reliable alternative method for updating k700 firmware in the UK?

Great news iamcrunchie, I read your guide with interest and thought that an end was in sight to my un-upgradeable O2 K700 nightmare, but I have one nagging doubt.

I thought that the Sony Ericsson update service determines whether or not you are authorised to use the service via your phones IMEI number and that if that was the case I still wouldn't be able to update online when newer firmwares come out.

I know de-branding/unlocking for Vodafone K700s is probably very welcome, but the branding on O2 K700s, which are not locked anyway, is so minimal I don't know if it is worth doing this to my phone.

I know that O2 users are still not allowed to use the SE update service yet, but can anyone confirm whether or not Vodafone customers are able to use the online update service yet?

I have already said in my first post...

My phone was vodafone branded and wouldnt work with the online update

I debranded and NOW it does work with the online update and it downloaded R2M (though the phone still says R2L).

It DIDNT re-brand the phone so it looks like it isnt determined by the IMEI but by the customisation file on the phone.

So id say it would be the same with your O2 phone..

whether they change this in the future by re-branding the phones if you use the online updaye, who knows, i guess its possible but i dont think they would really be willing to piss that many people off again.

Besides just look in the SE folder to see which files it is downloading, if it looks like its getting branded ones again then dont flash, simple.
