Hello Len...
Even though nokia has less compression on the pics taken whats the use..its still blury and less colourful..Jpeg compression has nothing to do with the overall pic quality. |

I can assure you that Jpeg compression has everything to do with the quality of the image, as jpeg is a destructive compression format. Do you mean that it is impossible to change the jpeg-quality on the k700? |

Ofcourse in the K700i there are two settings for taking photos one is Fine quality and other is Normal..In fine quality the images are better than that of normal and in fine the byte size of image is more. |

K700i has 2 compression settings - Normal and Fine. Average size of VGA image at Fine is 70KB; Normal occupies about half.
But even in Normal compression the quality is still better than in 6230 IMO. The only degradation I can find between the two settings is basically pixelation - not color quality.

You bet it sure does.
That is the reason why true photographers don't want to take photos in jpeg-format. They prefer uncompressed images and that is the reason why RAW-format exist. Colours are accurate to 100% whereas compressed is a bit lower than that. |

Over-all, the K700i wins in the cam (slightly) and screen resolution comparison datas . . . |

What I meant earlier is that the jpeg compression on K700i is not that much that spoil the pics taken by it. I do agree that Jpeg comression reduces the quality of the image but i tried to tell that K700i has a good jpeg compression.
Bottom line is K700i has a better camera and it competes with any camera in its range.

Yeah . . . the very FAMOUS - Panorama Mode in the K700i fone . . . unfortunately, I wasn't able to USE that even a SINGLE time then, as I am having some difficulty SENDING it to my email account, will then be uploaded here in Esato's server/archive - for posting ! |

I know many will disagree but I think the panorama wasn't that good. The color quality most of the time differ in the different segments and the part where you stitch is soooo difficult to perfect.

I think that both phones have mediocre cameras. I was a little disappointed with the k700i in the aspect that it should have had a megapixel camera on it.. vga is nice.. but it would be nice to have the ability to print a few acceptable pictures.
Also.. the k700i's camera shifts too far red when its dark or under incadescent lighting.. making people look sunburned.
This sounds negative, however I do like the camera, its a HUGE improvement over the t610/630 series and the light makes a nice flashlight.. i mean a REALLY nice flashlight.
I'd like to see a feature added in a later firmware that allows you to use the led as a flashlight with the camera off, cause it is really that good at night. |

The pic quality depends on the optics and the software of that particular phone and the k700i has a better camera then any other nokia in its class imo
