As I mentioned earlier in this thread. It was supposed to come at the end of October in Sweden but then it was postponed to the very beginning of November and here we are. I shall have a small conversation with my friend at Vodafone store near where I live.

SHARP does only have a good camera and good display but the rest is just crap. UI is bad as usual

What is bad about the Sharp UI? Have you even used a Sharp before? Their UI is one of the most simple to navigate.

Just had a little chat with my local Vodafone store. They said that their release date had now been set to just November. I.e. nothing more precise. But it should be close now...

SOME VERY INTERESTING INFO!!!

The swedish cell phone site Mobil has detailed news about the release of V800!

http://premium.mobil.se/nyheter/visa.asp?id=8733&sid=1

In the end of next week Vodafones new 3G-phones will be released. Including the V800!!! It will be sold with a contract including 60 minutes of free talk time per month. Price will be (roughly from swedish kronor) 55 euro when buying it and a montly fee of almost 40 euro. You also get 12 months of free videocalls inside Vodafone's network.

This goes for sweden but release should be similar in rest of europe.

EDIT: Did some further research. The swedish mobile phone retailer www.katshing.se now has the release date 11th november for the V800. They also have lots of different contracts to go with the V800. They claim that some of them are campaign prices and very good. Problem is the contracts listed seems to be new ones from vodafone and I can find no info on them. Hopefully the deals are as good as they claim (to quote, "the years best offer from Vodafone") because the price I reported above is really high... Hopefulle some new info on Voda's new subscriptions will be up soon and we can get some more accurate (and hopefullt lower) prices.

Anyhow, it is close now and considering that it it supposed to be such great offer it might turn out good My fingers are crossed and I will continue searching for more info and keep you posted. We now have a concrete date, the countdown has begun......

Amen to that Vlammetje!!
Amen....

Cant wait untill we get it over here... But i think it will sell first only at vodafone citypoints exclusively... then a month (or 2 months) later the others can take the phone in their line up.

upfront meaning one time payment of the phone without contract. i guess that will be similar to sim-free?

anyway, i'm planning to get a voda one too. frankly i don't mind the branding that much. i will be heading for japan on business end 2004 for a couple of months. hopefully the japanese versions allow international SIMs so that i can use it when i'm out of japan.

lynn can i come with you?

If I know vodafone.... they are terribly likely to lock their phones. Especially on a market where they want the customers/revenue so badly.
