K700 has made me go back to Nokia |

Hello. I know theres loads of posts on here about how k700 sucks, about how disappointed they are blah blah. I must say at the time that the K700 was announced, I was just blown away. I was the owner of a Nokia 6600 and although a very good phone was a bit too bulky and the interface was very slow.
When I saw images of the K700 I was blown away and was very excited about getting my paws on it. Beautiful slick design, very slick interface, the perfect cool phone. But Ive had it noiw for 4 months and although it is everything I hoped for, 1 thing is lacking and thats the camera. Most of my shots I had taken with the 6600 were in clubs and low light situations and the photos were brilliant. With the K700 its just a series of dots. Why? why? why? I mean it looks like a camera from the back and is marketed that way but the photos are completely useless. The 'light' doesnt really help much.
So now Im looking forward to getting a new Nokia very soon. K700 was nearly there but not quite. Anyways dont get upset with me folks, just wanted to post my thoughts and was wondering if the K700 has put people off Sony Ericsson? |

i guess it all depends on what you value most. In your case it's the camera..... for others it might be the interface, the brand or something completely different

It is ur opinion, but I think you will loose a lot if you go back to Nokia... Just, coz camera is bad at night, you will chancge your briliant phone for some Nokia with lousy interface, bad speaker, very bad screen and worst camera shots at day??? But ok, it is ur choise.

Hmmm if you are looking for a good phone with a good camera, are you sure you want to choose Nokia? Siemens, i think its the SL65? (dont quote me on the model number, its the one in the advert "you cant measure style") the one with the 1.3mp camera, its a very good phone (even if it does look like a t610). Knocks the spots off a Nokia, and, unfortunately,
Check out LG phones. They are the business.

Yeh as I said I love the K700 apart from that issue. And its only my opinion. The K700 is one very sexy phone but I love taking cool pictures wherever I go in any situation and the Nokia 6600 did brilliantly even though it was very bulky and slow. I just want something that works well for what i want.
I guess every person is different. |

I agree with Vlammetje..
For me the camera means diddley squat.. if i had the opportunity to get the K700 (or any other phone for that matter) without camera altogether i would.
That is also one major reason that i think i will take a raincheck on the S700. It focuses too much on the camera bit *no pun intended *
And the price is/will be too high for a device that i admit will have the best camera for now, but my old Nikon still leave it choking in the dust.
When I think about it, i guess that´s part of the reason I have started collecting older phones.. they are just that - phones -, not swiss army devices that try to do everything at once
I still get excited about the new shining toys though, so who knows, might pick up a S700 or RAZR just for the hell of it
Bottom line: No, the K700 has not in any way put me off SE, no more than my 8310 put me off Nokia (went to service three times in the first 10 days but after that worked perfectly for 1½ years)
Cheers!

Even with it's so called floors, I haven't had any problem with my software, other then what Vodafone have messed up.
The k700 has converted me form Nokia to SE. Looks so much nicer then any Nokia, smooth fuctions and a great forum.
Also the K700 bounces well. Droped it the other day. You should of seen the horible look on my face as I thought I'd busted my phone. But other than a little scratch on the bottom of it. It's still working away. |

Man, when I first saw K700i announced --- well it was love at first sight. After having it now for over a month: I say it DOESN'T worth spending the money.
Good screen, nice menus and that's about it!
Yes, the firmware is buggy. It's hard to upgrade because of lacking SE customer support. Even when you upgrade, new bugs appear.
Photo quality sux greatly. Definitely below 6600 (which has what like 2 years now? Grow up SE!)
Also the manufacturing of the phone really really sux. Today I just found the quickshare thingy attached to my shirt (!!). I put it on back, I put the phone on the table, come back, and the quickshare thingy was off-the-phone (by itself!).
When ever I type something I hear noise from the back-cover. It's extremely stressing. You can't put a piece of paper, because that will make things even worse in due time.
Not to talk about my experiences with Wireless Village SE IMPS, as for SE instant means 12 minutes (whereas for Motorola is 30 seconds!).
I really expected much more when I spend 400$ on this phone. I should have waited for the Motorola E398. The only things that SE K700i has above that phone is the Radio, internal memory (but that phone can have up to 256 Mb memory with card) and the high price.
Basically I would not recommend K700i to no one now, because it is obviously lacking fiability. Which Nokia has more than enough.
POST EDIT: Yes, well the quickshare thingy just re-deattached itself from the phone. It curves in the middle and then drops off.
I will super-glue it in place, and if that doesn't work, then f**k SE, i'm getting a motorola!

I purely like the K700 for the fact that it is one cool phone. And as everyone says different strokes for different folks. But since I love taking pics while out and about without carrying my camera everywhere, I need a handy camera with me everywhere I go. Also as a designer, I use loads of these spontaneous images in my work. And for straight pics during the day the K700 is good but as soon as you start wanting to get a little creative it falls flat on its face.

Nokia cameras have always been better than SE , especially when it comes to the night mode, which on nokia's is nothing short of amazing.
having not used a K700 I cannot comment on that but as for every other phone in the past, nokia cameras always better SE's
