I want to update my K700 firmware online but I was wondering,
Will it change the language? I'm in Greece and have the option
of Greek menus and text. The sony ericsson site in Greece doesn't
have any online update service so I will be updating it from the
English site, the link posted here.

the K700 update site is not country specific, its a global link for anyone to use.

It will determine the exact firmware you have in your phone and update for the same region/language that you already have if an update is available

Hi

I tried to update my phone and it said that there was nothing for my operator... Vodacom South Africa. Any other with the same problem?

@masseur

So is there a way to change a language pack for the K700 via the online update? Or I have to go to a service center for that?

Hi there!
I upgraded my k700 and the phone language change from portuguese to english!
After a master reset it changed to portuguese again.
I think the update service isn't fully operational as the P900 update service give us the possibility of choosing the manual option, where we can insert our phone CDA nunmber (this number specifies which is our country).
Anyone as noticed this?
Post your experiences.....

no you can't change language version via the update service. It checks the CDA number of the phone in order to select the right language pack.

...also my experience was that the service centre where I recently upgraded my hong kong K700 could not change the language pack either, although they did try while I was watching but the system did not allow it. the only option that would work was the specific hong kong R2L firmware version

I'm working on figuring out a way to determine and possibly change the language pack but need other people's info to do so. By comparing and contrasting filenames and log entries, we should be able to figure out what part of the names mean what. Please look at this thread.
