Your looking at least £25,000 with the custom made kit and parts.

well the dude only made the chassis and bought the parts (engine and interior). it should ride like an SLR, the only thing i can think of preventing it doing that is the weight difference in the chassis.

Looks like they had problems aligning the bonnet.
Seems like the donor car was also a Mercades. Either a 190 or 200 series.
Would have chose a better car than a Mercades to make a kit car out of though.
The Banham (think I spelt it right) for example. Its based on a Rover 200 series and the finished result is an Audi TT. These are more affordable and an A1 finished example can be picked up for around £3000.
A Pagani Zonda S would have been even better.

obviously you dont know too much about cars! This wouldn't feel anything like a real SLR.

well he clearly did not build his own chassis, but used the one from the old car. It also looks like he reused his engine with a new mercedes plastic facia over it. I can't tell if he reused the suspension or not.
This car would have much more body sway, a much louder ride, be considerably slower and is most likely very frisky on the road. It would be nothing like the real thing, except in looks. The chassis and suspension are the two most important things in determining ride, and this car is far behind. |
