Read in news. Samsung unveiled in Japan new phone V5600 or 5400- using hard drive of 1.5gb capacity. Mp3 and tv all is there. Price is about 800 usd. Soon seems will be no need in pc with such phones.

I doubt the hard drive would be running all the time, it would only be activated as required, and I don't think anyone is trying to compare a phone which has a hard drive with a pc

the hard drive here is only 1.5gb and, well I already have a 1gb SD card and 1 gb compact flash which I am sure would draw much less power than a hard drive so why bother anyway? just add SD support and also it will surely be lighter too

I think hdd will have lesser cost per byte than msd or cf,is that really the case?

I think the real point is being missed here. THere is now a phone with a hard drive! Yes its only 1.5gigs but its only a matter of time before we see 20 40gig+ hard drives in mobiles! Price v's capacity will far surpass that of any mmc card.
